ISO 27001 certification in Czechia at a glance
Security measures in Act No. 264/2025 Coll. is the instrument itself: it applies to the organisations within its scope, and buyers and partners in Czechia ask for evidence that you meet it.
Czech buyers now meet ISO/IEC 27001 through a statute rather than only through customer questionnaires. Act No. 264/2025 Coll., effective from 1 November 2025, lists an information security management system first among the organisational measures for providers in its higher-obligations regime, and NÚKIB is the authority behind it. Banks and insurers add DORA under ČNB supervision, while IT and shared-services firms receive the same duties from clients by contract. ČIA, the national accreditation body, lists ISO/IEC 27001 among its recognised management system scopes, so the certificate should come from an accredited certification body, never from Sterling. Sterling's Frankfurt office scopes the system, runs the risk assessment, writes the policies and Statement of Applicability, and prepares you for the audit, with Effivity and Sterling Academy included in the engagement and 20+ years of experience behind it.
Who needs ISO 27001 in Czechia, and what happens without it
In Czechia the question rarely comes from a law. It comes from the buyer, the regulator or the partner that wants proof before it signs. These are the organisations that get asked.
- Providers of regulated services under the Czech cyber security ActThe higher-obligations measures begin with an information security management system, which ISO/IEC 27001 is built to deliver.
- Banks, insurers and payment institutionsČNB applies DORA's ICT risk and third-party rules, and an ISMS gives structure to the evidence.
- IT, software and shared-services providersCustomers in regulated sectors pass supplier security duties down by contract.
- Healthcare providers and their technology suppliersHealth is among the sectors covered by the cyber security Act, so suppliers meet contractual security requirements.
- Manufacturers with connected productionIndustrial systems and supply chains are covered by the Act's measures, including supplier management.

Strip away the vocabulary and ISO/IEC 27001 requires a company to prove six things about how it protects the information it holds.
In Czechia these six sit alongside the local laws and regulations listed under drivers below; one system can evidence both. The detail is on the global hub: ISO/IEC 27001 explained →

How long does ISO 27001 certification take in Czechia?
There is no standard duration: it depends on your scope and on how much of the system already runs. In Czechia these are the factors that set the timeline.
- Scope boundaries and number of locations
- Existing risk assessment and Statement of Applicability
- Supplier and cloud dependencies
- Certification body scheduling
Sterling agrees a dated plan with you on the discovery call, once the scope is known.
How much does ISO 27001 certification cost in Czechia?
The cost has two parts: the consulting work to build and prove the system, and the certification body’s audit fees, which are quoted separately. In Czechia these factors move both.
- Headcount and sites in scope
- Control remediation and tooling
- Certification body audit fees, quoted separately
- Penetration testing and monitoring
Sterling gives one customised, all-inclusive proposal after the discovery call, never before the scope is agreed.
ISO 27001 consultants and certification bodies in Czechia
Two different organisations are involved. A consultant helps you build the system and prove it works; an accredited certification body then audits or assesses it and decides. Keeping the two separate is what makes the result credible to buyers and regulators.
- Check that the body’s accreditation or approval covers ISO 27001 and your sector, and that its certificates can be verified online.
- Ask the consultant how the local requirements in Czechia are mapped into the same system, so nothing runs twice.
- Ask for client references in your sector; Sterling’s client letters are available on request.
- Agree who owns the evidence and the tool after the engagement; with Sterling the system stays yours, in Effivity.

Accreditation, audit language and remote audits in Czechia
Choose a certification body accredited for this standard by ČIA, the Czech national accreditation body, or by another accreditation body within the international mutual recognition arrangements (Global ACI — Global Accreditation Cooperation Incorporated, formerly the IAF MLA). Check that the body's accreditation scope covers the standard and your sector. No body is named here. Edition and transition details: ISO/IEC 27001 hub →

ISO 27001 in Czechia: questions clients ask
Does the Czech cyber security Act require ISO/IEC 27001 certification?
No certificate is required by the Act's text. It requires providers in the higher regime to run an information security management system and other listed measures, and ISO/IEC 27001 is a recognised way to structure one. Following a standard does not by itself prove compliance, so confirm with NÚKIB or your counsel what evidence you should keep.
Which accreditation should an ISO/IEC 27001 certificate carry in Czechia?
Accreditation by ČIA, or by an equivalent body, for information security management system certification. ČIA's own page lists ISO/IEC 27001 among the standards for which it is recognised within the international arrangements. Scopes differ by body and sector, so ask the certification body for its accreditation certificate and check the scope before application.
How does DORA affect an ISO/IEC 27001 project at a Czech financial firm?
DORA adds duties beyond the certificate. ČNB says it covers ICT risk management, incident reporting, resilience testing and ICT third-party risk, and it checks compliance through supervision. An ISMS supplies much of the governance and records, but DORA mapping and testing are separate work. ČNB's page does not name ISO/IEC 27001.
Can an ISO/IEC 27001 certificate cover a group with several Czech entities?
Yes, if the scope statement covers them and the certification body can audit each location or sample them under its rules. Multi-entity scopes lengthen preparation because policies, risk assessment and supplier controls must apply consistently. Draw the boundary early, and keep it aligned with what NÚKIB registration or customer contracts require.
