SOC 2 attestation in Czechia at a glance
Security measures in Act No. 264/2025 Coll. is the instrument itself: it applies to the organisations within its scope, and buyers and partners in Czechia ask for evidence that you meet it.
A SOC 2 report is an attestation, and Czech companies meet it mostly through customers. Banks, insurers and other entities under ČNB supervision must manage ICT third-party risk under DORA, which ČNB says took effect on 17 January 2025, so SaaS and cloud suppliers face questions on controls. The cyber security Act, No. 264/2025 Coll., also requires providers of regulated services to choose suppliers in line with the measure's requirements and write them into contracts, and US buyers ask for the AICPA report as a matter of routine. A licensed CPA firm issues the report after an examination against the trust services criteria, and no Czech accreditation body is involved. Sterling does not attest. Its Frankfurt office prepares controls, evidence collection and readiness, with Effivity and Sterling Academy included in the engagement and 20+ years of delivery experience behind it.
Who needs SOC 2 in Czechia, and what happens without it
In Czechia the question rarely comes from a law. It comes from the buyer, the regulator or the partner that wants proof before it signs. These are the organisations that get asked.
- SaaS and cloud providers selling to Czech financial institutionsČNB-supervised customers must manage ICT third-party risk under DORA and ask suppliers for assurance.
- Suppliers to providers of regulated servicesThe cyber security Act requires providers to choose suppliers in line with the measure's requirements and write them into contracts.
- Czech technology firms selling to US customersUS buyers commonly ask for a SOC 2 report in security reviews.
- Shared-service and managed-service centresClients abroad ask for an independent report on controls.
Not sure which of these applies to you?Answer a short set of questions and your readiness report arrives by e-mail.
Take the SOC 2 readiness checkSOC 2 requirements in Czechia
Strip away the vocabulary and SOC 2 asks a service organisation to report on six things about the controls behind its service.
In Czechia these six sit alongside the local laws and regulations listed under drivers below; one system can evidence both. The detail is on the global hub: SOC 2 explained →

How long does SOC 2 attestation take in Czechia?
There is no standard duration: it depends on your scope and on how much of the system already runs. In Czechia these are the factors that set the timeline.
- Type 1 or Type 2 report and the observation window
- Selected trust services criteria
- Maturity of controls and evidence collection
- CPA firm availability
Sterling agrees a dated plan with you on the discovery call, once the scope is known.
How much does SOC 2 attestation cost in Czechia?
The cost has two parts: the consulting work to build and prove the system, and the CPA firm’s fees, which are quoted separately. In Czechia these factors move both.
- Systems and criteria in scope
- Control remediation and tooling
- CPA firm fees, quoted separately
- Number of subservice organisations
Sterling gives one customised, all-inclusive proposal after the discovery call, never before the scope is agreed.
SOC 2 consultants and auditors in Czechia
Two different organisations are involved. A consultant helps you build the system and prove it works; a licensed CPA firm then audits or assesses it and decides. Keeping the two separate is what makes the result credible to buyers and regulators.
- Check that the body’s accreditation or approval covers SOC 2 and your sector, and that its certificates can be verified online.
- Ask the consultant how the local requirements in Czechia are mapped into the same system, so nothing runs twice.
- Ask for client references in your sector; Sterling’s client letters are available on request.
- Agree who owns the evidence and the tool after the engagement; with Sterling the system stays yours, in Effivity.
Laws and regulations that drive SOC 2 in Czechia (3)
| Instrument | How it treats the standard |
|---|---|
| AICPA System and Organization Controls (SOC) suite | Scheme rule SOC reports are service offerings that CPAs provide on controls at a service organisation; they are attestation reports, not certificates. |
| Security measures in Act No. 264/2025 Coll. | The instrument itself For providers in the higher-obligations regime the listed organisational measures start with an information security management system and include requirements for top management, risk management, supplier management, business continuity management and cyber security audit. |
| Regulation (EU) 2022/2554 (DORA), supervised in Czechia by the Czech National Bank (ČNB) | EU law ČNB says DORA took effect on 17 January 2025 for banks, insurers, investment firms and other financial entities and covers ICT risk management, incident reporting, resilience testing and ICT third-party risk; ČNB checks compliance through its supervision. |
Accreditation, audit language and remote audits in Czechia
Attestation, not certification: a SOC 2 report is issued by a licensed CPA firm after an examination against the AICPA trust services criteria. Sterling prepares the controls and evidence; it does not attest. Edition and transition details: SOC 2 hub →
Audit language
Czech is the official language and English is commonly used in business. Agree the audit language and the language of controlled documents with the certification body at application, and follow any language requirement in a contract or a regulator's procedure.
Remote and on-site
The CPA firm decides how much fieldwork is remote; evidence collection for cloud environments is commonly remote.
SOC 2 in Czechia: questions clients ask
Is SOC 2 recognised under Czech cyber security rules?
The cyber security Act does not name it. It requires providers to select suppliers according to the measure's requirements and write them into contracts, and a SOC 2 report is one kind of evidence a provider may accept. NÚKIB or counsel can say what evidence satisfies a particular obligation.
Who issues a SOC 2 report to a Czech company?
A licensed CPA firm, after examining controls against the AICPA trust services criteria. It is an attestation report, not a certificate, so no Czech accreditation body is involved. Sterling prepares controls and evidence but does not attest. Choose a firm your customers will accept, since some buyers have preferences.
Why do Czech banks ask suppliers for SOC 2 or similar reports?
DORA, supervised by ČNB, covers ICT third-party risk for banks, insurers and other financial entities, so they must evidence oversight of suppliers. ČNB says it checks compliance through supervision. A SOC 2 report gives them independent assurance on a vendor's controls, though each institution decides what it accepts.
Should a Czech provider choose SOC 2 or ISO/IEC 27001?
It depends on the buyer. European and Czech regulated customers tend to ask for ISO/IEC 27001, while US customers often ask for SOC 2. Many providers eventually hold both, since the control work overlaps. Check the contracts and questionnaires you receive, then plan one control set mapped to both.
