ISO and GRC resources: guides, comparisons, revisions and case studies
Sterling's ISO and GRC resources explain how certification, attestation, accreditation and compliance work, standard by standard. Start with the guides for process, cost and documents, the revisions page for transition dates, or the case studies to see how engagements ran.
Which resource to use
Which resource answers which question?
The guides and white papers cover the questions most buyers ask first: how the certification process runs, what drives cost, which documents are mandatory, how internal audit and gap analysis work, with a focus on ISO 9001, ISO/IEC 27001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001. The standard revisions and transitions page lists the standards being revised, the transition dates that have been confirmed and a guide for each change. The accreditation and certification bodies page explains how to check accreditation under Global ACI, how to choose a certification body, QSA or SOC 2 auditor, and how to verify a certificate.
The comparison guides set standards side by side on scope, assessor and output, for choices such as ISO/IEC 27001 or SOC 2. The glossary defines the terms that appear in every audit, from accreditation and attestation to nonconformity and the Statement of Applicability, in plain sentences. The insights are practical articles for compliance and quality teams on subjects such as ISO/IEC 27001, PCI DSS, GDPR, HIPAA, NIS2, DORA and ISO 22301. The case studies describe ten anonymised Sterling engagements across sectors, in Sterling's words.
Beyond these indexes sit the regulatory watch pages for six regions, which track where data, cyber and sector rules stand; the client satisfaction and clients-by-sector pages, drawn from letters and case studies on file; and the certification benchmarks page on what the ISO Survey counts. Each standard's own page goes deeper still, with guides on scope, requirements, documents, audits and costs. Every resource is written by Sterling's expert and experienced consultants from official sources, the standard's publisher, the regulator or the scheme owner, and dates appear only where an official source states them.

FAQs
Using the resources
Three questions readers ask before they start.
Where do I start if I am new to ISO certification?
Start with the guides and white papers for how certification works, and keep the glossary open for the terms. Then read the page for the standard you need, which explains its requirements, the certification process, cost and timeline, and what an engagement includes. The readiness check gives a first view of where you stand.
How do I check whether a certificate is genuine?
Check it with the body that issued it. Confirm on the certification body's own register that the certificate exists and is current, that the scope and sites match what you were told, and that the body is accredited for that standard by an accreditation body in Global ACI. The accreditation and certification bodies page and the certificate check tool set out each step.
How current are the dates and figures on these pages?
Dates and figures appear only where an official source states them, and each page names its subject's publisher, regulator or scheme owner. The standard revisions and transitions page lists only transition dates that have been confirmed. Standards and regulations change, so check the official source before relying on a date for a contract or a deadline.
