ISO standard revisions 2026: what changed, what is coming and the dates that matter
ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 have 2026 editions and ISO 45001 is in revision. Each guide covers one change, its confirmed dates and the steps to transition.
Where things stand
Several standards changed at once. Your certificate does not change overnight.
ISO 9001:2026 and ISO 14001:2026 each carry a three-year transition, ISO/IEC 27701:2025 and ISO 37001:2025 are mid-transition, and ISO 45001 is expected in its new edition in the first half of 2027.
A new edition does not cancel your certificate on publication day. Your certification body plans the transition audit within the set period; what you control is how early you review the changes and update your system.

FAQs
ISO standard revisions: common questions
Each guide has the detail.
Which ISO standards have new editions in 2026?
ISO 14001:2026 (15 April), ISO 14068:2026 (11 September) and ISO 9001:2026 (16 September). ISO 45001 is still in revision.
Does my certificate expire when the new edition is published?
No. Previous-edition certificates stay valid until the transition ends: 30 September 2029 for ISO 9001:2015, 30 April 2029 for ISO 14001:2015.
Who decides when my transition audit takes place?
Your certification body. Sterling does not certify; a Sterling consultant reviews the changes against your system and prepares your team for that audit.
