ISO 22301 certification in Czechia at a glance
Security measures in Act No. 264/2025 Coll. is the instrument itself: it applies to the organisations within its scope, and buyers and partners in Czechia ask for evidence that you meet it.
Continuity planning in Czechia is now written into law for a defined group. Act No. 264/2025 Coll., effective from 1 November 2025, lists business continuity management among the organisational measures for providers in its higher-obligations regime, alongside risk management, supplier management and cyber security audit, and NÚKIB supervises it. Financial entities add DORA under ČNB, which covers ICT risk, incident reporting and resilience testing. Healthcare, energy, digital infrastructure and manufacturing providers sit inside the Act's sector list, and customers in automotive and electronics chains test supplier recovery on their own. ISO 22301 is a recognised way to structure the work, but it is a voluntary certificate, not a legal substitute. Accredited certification bodies issue it, never Sterling. Sterling's Frankfurt office runs business impact analyses, recovery strategies and exercises, with Effivity and Sterling Academy included in the engagement.
Who needs ISO 22301 in Czechia, and what happens without it
In Czechia the question rarely comes from a law. It comes from the buyer, the regulator or the partner that wants proof before it signs. These are the organisations that get asked.
- Providers of regulated services under the cyber security ActBusiness continuity management is among the listed measures for the higher-obligations regime.
- Banks, insurers and payment institutionsDORA's resilience duties sit with ČNB-supervised entities, and continuity plans feed the evidence.
- Healthcare providers and energy operatorsBoth sectors are covered by the Act, and service interruption has public consequences.
- IT, cloud and data-centre operatorsCustomers write recovery expectations into contracts.
- Manufacturers with tightly timed supply chainsAutomotive and electronics customers audit supplier recovery capability.

Strip away the vocabulary and ISO 22301 requires a company to prove six things about how it keeps operating when something goes wrong.
In Czechia these six sit alongside the local laws and regulations listed under drivers below; one system can evidence both. The detail is on the global hub: ISO 22301 explained →

How long does ISO 22301 certification take in Czechia?
There is no standard duration: it depends on your scope and on how much of the system already runs. In Czechia these are the factors that set the timeline.
- Business impact analysis and recovery objectives
- Number of sites and critical services
- Exercise and testing history
- Certification body scheduling
Sterling agrees a dated plan with you on the discovery call, once the scope is known.
How much does ISO 22301 certification cost in Czechia?
The cost has two parts: the consulting work to build and prove the system, and the certification body’s audit fees, which are quoted separately. In Czechia these factors move both.
- Services, sites and dependencies in scope
- Recovery capability and exercise remediation
- Certification body audit fees, quoted separately
- Alignment with ISO/IEC 27001
Sterling gives one customised, all-inclusive proposal after the discovery call, never before the scope is agreed.
ISO 22301 consultants and certification bodies in Czechia
Two different organisations are involved. A consultant helps you build the system and prove it works; an accredited certification body then audits or assesses it and decides. Keeping the two separate is what makes the result credible to buyers and regulators.
- Check that the body’s accreditation or approval covers ISO 22301 and your sector, and that its certificates can be verified online.
- Ask the consultant how the local requirements in Czechia are mapped into the same system, so nothing runs twice.
- Ask for client references in your sector; Sterling’s client letters are available on request.
- Agree who owns the evidence and the tool after the engagement; with Sterling the system stays yours, in Effivity.
Laws and regulations that drive ISO 22301 in Czechia (3)
| Instrument | How it treats the standard |
|---|---|
| Security measures in Act No. 264/2025 Coll. | The instrument itself For providers in the higher-obligations regime the listed organisational measures start with an information security management system and include requirements for top management, risk management, supplier management, business continuity management and cyber security audit. |
| Regulation (EU) 2022/2554 (DORA), supervised in Czechia by the Czech National Bank (ČNB) | EU law ČNB says DORA took effect on 17 January 2025 for banks, insurers, investment firms and other financial entities and covers ICT risk management, incident reporting, resilience testing and ICT third-party risk; ČNB checks compliance through its supervision. |
| Directive (EU) 2022/2555 (NIS 2 Directive) | EU law Sets the baseline for cybersecurity risk-management measures and reporting obligations that the Czech Act implements. |
Accreditation, audit language and remote audits in Czechia
Choose a certification body accredited for this standard by ČIA, the Czech national accreditation body, or by another accreditation body within the international mutual recognition arrangements (Global ACI — Global Accreditation Cooperation Incorporated, formerly the IAF MLA). Check that the body's accreditation scope covers the standard and your sector. No body is named here. Edition and transition details: ISO 22301 hub →
Audit language
Czech is the official language and English is commonly used in business. Agree the audit language and the language of controlled documents with the certification body at application, and follow any language requirement in a contract or a regulator's procedure.
Remote and on-site
Audits are normally on-site with some remote review of plans, exercise records and recovery tooling.
ISO 22301 in Czechia: questions clients ask
Does the Czech cyber security Act require business continuity management?
For providers in the higher-obligations regime, yes: business continuity management is one of the listed organisational measures, with others such as risk management, supplier management and cyber security audit. The Act sets the measure but not a certificate. NÚKIB or counsel can confirm which regime your service falls into.
Is ISO 22301 evidence for DORA at a Czech bank?
It supports it but does not replace it. ČNB says DORA covers ICT risk management, incident reporting, resilience testing and third-party risk, and that it checks compliance through supervision. A certified continuity system provides plans and exercise records, whereas DORA testing and reporting need their own work, so map each requirement.
What does NIS2 say about continuity?
The NIS2 Directive sets a baseline of cybersecurity risk-management measures that the Czech Act turns into national law, and business continuity is among the areas covered. The Act's text decides the exact measures for each regime. A continuity management system helps produce the required plans, though following a standard does not prove compliance.
Which accreditation should an ISO 22301 certificate carry?
One from ČIA or an equivalent body in the international recognition network, covering management system certification. ČIA publishes a list of seven recognised standards, and business continuity is absent from it, so the exact scope must be confirmed. Request the accreditation certificate and compare its sector coverage with the services you intend to certify.
