About Sterling · Why Sterling

Why choose Sterling International Consulting: one team from scope to certificate and beyond

Organisations choose Sterling International Consulting because one team takes them from scope to certification and keeps the system working afterwards. Expert and experienced consultants have advised on ISO management systems since 2003, the Sterling Promise sets the standard we are held to, and Effivity comes with every engagement at no additional cost.

  • One accountable teamThe same consultants from scoping through the certification audit and into surveillance.
  • The Sterling Promise100% on-time completion, 100% success, 8,100+ client engagements.
  • Software includedEffivity, the group's ISO and GRC platform, at no additional cost.
  • Global reach, local deliveryOffices in 21 countries and client engagements in 60+.

What we do

GRC consulting that ends in a working system, not a binder on a shelf

Sterling International Consulting helps organisations design, implement and maintain management systems and compliance programmes: ISO management systems and integrated management systems, ESG, SOC 2, PCI DSS, HIPAA and GDPR. The group's heritage in ISO implementation and certification consulting goes back to 2003, and the Sterling entity in the UAE has been registered since 2012.

The aim of every engagement is simple: a system your people understand and use, evidence that stands up at audit, and a certificate or report that helps you win and keep business. When the audit is over, the system still has to run, so we plan for that from day one.

  • Certification to ISO management system standards, alone or integrated into one system
  • Readiness for SOC 2, PCI DSS, HIPAA and GDPR programmes
  • Version transitions, scope expansion and new standards added to an existing system

How we differ

Four reasons clients choose Sterling over the alternatives

Most organisations compare three routes: doing it themselves with templates, hiring a local freelancer, or appointing a consulting firm. Templates rarely fit the way a business actually runs, and a single freelancer is hard to scale across sites or standards. Sterling combines the attention of a small team with the depth of a group that has delivered 8,100+ client engagements in 60+ countries.

We are also clear about roles. Sterling does not certify; an accredited body audits and decides. Our job is to prepare you so thoroughly that the audit confirms what you already know about your system, and to stay with you until the agreed outcome is achieved.

  • A choice of support level: Design™ for advisory implementation, or Drive™ for a fully managed consulting
  • Effivity included with the engagement, so documents, records and actions live in one place
  • Internal auditor training for your audit team, as applicable to your standard

How we work

Sterling OS™: one method across the life of your system

Sterling OS™ is the way we organise every engagement. With Design™, the default model, we develop and you implement under our expert advice and supervision. With Drive™, we design and build under your approval, fully managed. The two are alternative support levels: you choose the one that fits your team's time and capacity.

After certification, Sustain™ supports surveillance and recertification audits and extends to non-certification outcomes such as SOC 2, PCI DSS, HIPAA, GDPR and SOC 1. Automate™ runs your system on Effivity. Revise™ covers version transitions, scope expansion, new standard integration and multi-standard integrated management systems.

  • Scope, timeline and responsibilities agreed before work begins
  • Your people trained to run the system, not only to pass the audit
  • Support through the certification audit and every finding that follows

What backs it

The Sterling Promise, the group behind it and the clients on record

The Sterling Promise: 100% on-time completion, 100% success, 8,100+ client engagements. Under it we stay with you until the agreed certification outcome is achieved, supporting the response to every finding the certification body raises.

Behind Sterling sits a group that includes Effivity Technologies, whose low-code ISO and GRC software is used in 50+ countries, and Cyber Vantage 360 in the Philippines for cybersecurity and data privacy. Clients also receive preferential course access and special pricing at Sterling Academy through their Sterling consultant, with complimentary awareness training for their people as part of the engagement.

  • 8,100+ client engagements in 60+ countries
  • Offices in 21 countries, with a global headquarters in New York
  • Signed client letters on file, available on request

Sterling does not certify; an accredited body audits and decides. The Sterling Promise covers our work, never the certification body's decision.

The group has implemented ISO management systems since 2003 and has delivered 8,100+ client engagements in 60+ countries, with offices in 21 countries.

What is the difference between Design™ and Drive™?

They are alternative support levels, and you choose one. With Design™ we develop the system and you implement it under our expert advice and supervision. What is included in a Sterling engagement besides consulting?

Your Sterling consultant can also arrange preferential course access and special pricing at Sterling Academy, with complimentary awareness training for your people as part of the engagement.

Can Sterling support us after certification?

Yes. Sustain™ supports you through surveillance and recertification audits, and extends to programmes such as SOC 2, PCI DSS, HIPAA, GDPR and SOC 1. When a standard changes edition, or you add a site or a new standard, Revise™ covers the transition, scope expansion or integration into one management system.
