- An office for clients across Nigeria and anglophone West Africa, working with our regional headquarters for Africa in Johannesburg, part of a group with offices in 21 countries, implementing management systems since 2003
- The Sterling Promise: 100% on-time completion, 100% success, 8,100+ client engagements. Sterling does not certify; an accredited body audits and decides
What we do here
Everything a Sterling engagement includes, delivered from Lagos.
The same engagement we deliver in 60+ countries, led from Lagos. In Nigeria, demand comes most from banks, payment firms and fintechs; IT, IT-enabled services and BPO firms serving overseas clients; telecom and digital service providers; and oil, gas and energy-services contractors. One consultant leads your project from gap analysis to the certificate, and your people do the work alongside us, so the system stays yours after we leave.
Scope, gap analysis and implementation plan
With responsibilities, dates and decision owners, agreed before work starts.
Process development and documentation
Tailored to your operations, on Sterling's own template sets, built with your process owners.
Effivity ISO & GRC software
Your system runs in Effivity from day one, included with the engagement at no additional cost.
Training for everyone
Internal auditor training for your audit team, as applicable to your standard, and preferential Sterling Academy access, including complimentary awareness training for your people as part of the engagement.
Internal audit and management review
Conducted or facilitated as agreed, with findings closed with evidence before the certification body arrives.
Certification readiness and support
Preparation for Stage 1 and Stage 2, and support until the certificate is issued.
Certification decisions remain with the independent certification body.
Standards in demand
The standards organisations in Nigeria ask us for most.
Most requests start with a customer, a tender, a main contractor or a parent group asking for a certificate. Alongside the ISO management system standards, the Lagos team helps organisations meet the Nigeria Data Protection Act, 2023, which the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) supervises. If you are unsure which standard applies to you, the discovery call settles it.

FAQs
Questions clients in Nigeria ask before they engage us.
The specific answers for your organisation come from the discovery call. These are the general ones.
Where is Sterling in Lagos, and who do I contact?
The Lagos office serves Nigeria and anglophone West Africa. Write to southafrica@sterling-grc.com and a Sterling consultant replies within one working day. The first step is a free discovery call of about thirty minutes, where we agree your scope, standards and target date before any proposal is prepared. Meetings are by appointment, at your premises or online.
Does Sterling issue the ISO certificate?
No. Sterling does not certify. We build the management system with your team, prepare the evidence and support you through the audit; an independent, accredited certification body audits and decides. Check the body's accreditation before you appoint it. International recognition of accreditation now runs through the Global ACI arrangement, which replaced the IAF MLA and ILAC MRA on 1 January 2026.
Which data protection law applies in Nigeria, and who supervises it?
The main law is the Nigeria Data Protection Act, 2023, supervised by the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC). We help you build a programme that meets it, with records you can show, and we work alongside your legal advisers; the duties it sets are explained on our page about the law, linked under Standards in demand.
How long does an ISO certification project take in Nigeria?
It depends on your scope, the number of sites, the standard and how much of the system already exists, so we give a date only after the gap analysis. The plan we agree names every activity, owner and deadline up to the certification body's Stage 1 and Stage 2 audits, and your system runs in Effivity from the first week, so progress is visible to your management throughout.
Which countries does the Lagos office serve?
The Lagos office serves Nigeria, Ghana, Liberia, Sierra Leone and the Gambia. Multi-site and multi-country groups work with one engagement team, one plan and one Effivity system, with Johannesburg as our regional headquarters for Africa, while the certification body confirms how sites in each country are sampled and audited.
