ISO and GRC certification in Dubai at a glance
Dubai's certification demand follows its zones. Jebel Ali Free Zone and DMCC put traders and logistics operators in front of export buyers. Dubai Industrial City hosts food and beverage, base metals and transport manufacturers near Jebel Ali Port, Al Maktoum International Airport and an Etihad Rail freight terminal. Dubai South combines aviation, logistics and an e-commerce free zone, Dubai Silicon Oasis gathers technology and cybersecurity firms, and DIFC and Dubai Healthcare City bring financial and healthcare buyers. Emirate bodies shape the checklist too: Dubai Municipality's Food Code for food businesses, the Dubai Electronic Security Centre for Dubai Government entities, and the Dubai Health Authority for private hospitals. Sterling's Dubai office supports clients in all of these zones, and Effivity and Sterling Academy are included with the engagement. Accredited certification bodies issue the certificates; Sterling does not certify. National law and accreditation sit on the UAE page.
Dubai is the UAE's trading, logistics and services centre, organised around free zones and special districts rather than one industrial belt. Jebel Ali Free Zone and DMCC serve traders and logistics operators, Dubai Industrial City and Dubai South host manufacturing, aviation and airport logistics, Dubai Silicon Oasis concentrates technology firms, and DIFC and Dubai Healthcare City add financial and healthcare buyers.

Questions Dubai clients ask
Which Dubai body sets food safety expectations for restaurants and food manufacturers?
Dubai Municipality, through its Food Control Department. Its Food Code expects food establishments to keep an approved, documented food safety programme based on HACCP principles, audited by a Municipality-approved third-party auditor unless waived. Confirm the current edition and your establishment category with the Municipality before you plan an audit.
Is Dubai Central Laboratory accredited?
Yes. Dubai Municipality's Dubai Central Laboratory states that it is accredited by the Emirates International Accreditation Centre to ISO/IEC 17025:2017 for testing and/or calibration. Its sections cover microbiology, chemical analysis, metrology and product certification, among others. Check the accreditation scope for the specific test you need.
What accreditation do private hospitals in Dubai need?
Private hospitals licensed by the Dubai Health Authority must obtain international accreditation from an accreditor approved by the International Society for Quality in Health Care, under circular CIR-2020-00000054. In Dubai Healthcare City, healthcare activity also needs Dubai Health Authority licences. Confirm timing and scope with the Authority.
Which Dubai districts are close to Jebel Ali Port?
Dubai Industrial City is described as near Jebel Ali Port, Al Maktoum International Airport and an Etihad Rail freight terminal. Dubai South's Logistics District reaches Jebel Ali Port through a bonded logistics corridor and has direct access to cargo terminals at Al Maktoum International. Jafza is the port-side free zone listed with logistics among its sectors.
