ISO 22000 certification in Dubai at a glance
Food businesses in Dubai are watched from two directions: Dubai Municipality inspects against its Food Code, and export customers audit against their own supplier standards. ISO 22000 sits between them, giving a catering group, ingredient trader or processor a food safety management system that joins HACCP with management-system discipline: context, leadership, communication and continual improvement. Jafza lists food and agriculture among its sectors and Dubai Industrial City names food and beverage, so both zones hold companies whose buyers ask for an accredited certificate. Sterling's Dubai office sets up the hazard analysis, operational prerequisite programmes and traceability exercise on your premises, with Effivity and Sterling Academy included. Choose ISO 22000 when your customers accept it; choose FSSC 22000 when they name the scheme.
Why ISO 22000 in Dubai
- Caterers, ingredient traders and processors in JafzaThe zone lists food and agriculture, so many tenants handle food for export.

ISO 22000 in Dubai: questions clients ask
How does ISO 22000 relate to the Dubai Municipality Food Code?
The Food Code expects an approved, documented food safety programme based on HACCP principles. ISO 22000 includes HACCP inside a wider management system, so the same hazard analysis can serve both. Whether the Municipality accepts the certificate in place of its own audit is a question for the Municipality.
Which Dubai zones hold the food companies that ask for ISO 22000?
Jebel Ali Free Zone, which lists food and agriculture among its sectors, and Dubai Industrial City, which names food and beverage. Buyers in both are often overseas retailers or distributors. Ask your customer whether ISO 22000 or FSSC 22000 is accepted, because some name the scheme.
