In short

ISO 22301 certification in Dubai at a glance

A port, an international airport and a free-zone supply chain make continuity a commercial question in Dubai, not only a compliance one. Dubai Industrial City is placed near Jebel Ali Port, Al Maktoum International Airport and a rail freight terminal, Dubai South's Logistics District depends on a bonded corridor to the port, and DIFC firms must keep services running for regulated clients. ISO 22301 sets out how to analyse business impact, choose recovery strategies and test the plans, and an accredited certification body issues the certificate. Sterling's Dubai office runs the impact analysis workshops with your managers and builds exercise scenarios that fit a Dubai operation, with Effivity and Sterling Academy included with the engagement.

Requirements

What ISO 22301 requires

Strip away the vocabulary and ISO 22301 requires a company to prove six things about how it keeps operating when something goes wrong.

You know what must keep runningA business impact analysis identifies your priority activities and how quickly each one must be resumed after disruption.
Leadership owns continuityTop management sets continuity policy and objectives, assigns roles and backs the programme with people and budget.
You assessed what could disrupt youRisks of disruption to priority activities, and to the resources they depend on, are assessed and treated.
Plans are written and readyResponse and recovery plans, and a defined incident response structure, exist for the scenarios that matter most to you.
You have tested themPlans are exercised, and lessons from exercises and real incidents are fed back into them.
You keep the programme currentContinuity performance is evaluated, internal audits and management reviews take place, and the programme improves over time.

ISO 22301 in Dubai: questions clients ask

Why does ISO 22301 matter for Dubai logistics firms?

Because the chain runs through few nodes. The bonded corridor to Jebel Ali Port and the cargo terminals at Al Maktoum International are named in Dubai South's own description, so a stoppage at either halts the flow of goods. ISO 22301 gives a structured way to analyse that exposure and rehearse recovery.

Does a DIFC company need ISO 22301?

No Dubai authority requirement for the certificate was found. Customers and the regulator's expectations for operational resilience drive the question, so ask your regulated clients and the Dubai Financial Services Authority what evidence they expect before you scope a certification.
