In short

ISO 37301 certification in Dubai at a glance

Compliance teams in DIFC work to the Dubai Financial Services Authority's rulebook, while compliance officers in Jafza and DMCC trading companies juggle customs, sanctions, product and contract obligations. ISO 37301 provides one management system around all of them: a register of compliance obligations, risk-based controls, training, a speak-up channel and periodic evaluation. Certification by an accredited certification body shows the system is run, not that every law is met. Dubai's mix of regulated financial firms and multi-jurisdiction traders makes the register the hard part, and that is where Sterling's Dubai office starts, with Effivity and Sterling Academy included. Which obligations bind your business is a matter for the UAE page and your counsel.

ISO 37301 in Dubai: questions clients ask

Is ISO 37301 only for financial firms in Dubai?

No. DIFC firms work to a financial regulator's rulebook, but traders in DMCC and logistics operators in Jafza also carry customs, sanctions and contract obligations. The standard is sector-neutral, because it asks you to identify your own obligations and manage them. Which ones apply depends on your licence and activities.

Does ISO 37301 certify that a company obeys the law?

No. It shows that a compliance management system exists and is operated, assessed by an accredited certification body. It does not state that every obligation is met. Where legal duties are involved, rely on your counsel and the relevant authority for the final word.
