Questions Shanghai clients ask

Who looks after ISO and GRC work for Shanghai organisations?

Sterling's Shanghai office handles the work, with workshops on your premises across the municipality and remote sessions where a stage allows. Effivity and Sterling Academy are included with the engagement. Sterling does not issue certificates: an accredited certification body that you appoint audits the system and decides on certification, so the choice of body stays with you.

What is Lingang and why does it matter for data-related certification?

Lingang is a State Council special area of the pilot free trade zone, covering 119.5 square kilometres. Its founding plan asks for security assessment of cross-border data flows in chips, AI, biomedicine and headquarters economy, with data protection capability certification mechanisms. Companies there often pair ISO 27001 with PIPL work. Confirm the current zone rules with the administrative committee.

Which Shanghai zones are home to chip, AI and biomedicine employers?

Zhangjiang is the established innovation zone for chips, AI, robotics and biomedicine, and Lingang is the newer special area naming chips, AI, biomedicine and civil aviation. Both house design, research and manufacturing teams whose customers ask about quality, information security and laboratory competence, so ISO 9001, ISO 27001 and ISO 13485 are the usual starting points.

Does the Port of Shanghai create demand for management-system certification?

It creates a deep base of exporters, forwarders, terminal service firms and warehouse operators whose customers assess quality, safety and continuity. The port itself does not require a certificate from them. Contracts and tenders do, so check each prequalification document. In 2024 the port handled 51.5 million TEU, which is why ISO 9001, ISO 22301 and ISO 45001 are common asks.
