ISO 29993 client experienceWhat it is
What is ISO 29993 and what is it used for?
ISO 29993 is the international standard that sets service requirements for learning services outside formal education. ISO describes its reach as every type of lifelong learning, vocational and in-company training among them, whether the training is outsourced or run in-house. It covers the services a learning service provider (LSP) offers to learners directly and to sponsors, such as employers, who acquire the service on the learners' behalf. The services it has in mind share three features: the goals of learning are defined, the service is evaluated, and it involves interaction with the learner, face to face, mediated by technology or a blend of both.
Unlike ISO 9001 or ISO 21001, it is not a management system standard, and it does not follow their harmonised structure: there is no clause for leadership, risk planning, internal audit or management review. Its requirements follow the path a learner or sponsor actually travels, from the general information a provider gives and the proposal a sponsor receives, through needs analysis, design, delivery, facilitators and the assessment of learning, to monitoring, evaluation and the invoice. Where the provider is part of an organisation that also delivers other goods or services, the standard applies to its learning services only. It is not aimed at schools, colleges and universities teaching within a formal education system, although ISO notes that it can help them reflect on and evaluate their own services.
For a training business the useful question is concrete: does every course keep the promise made in the brochure, the proposal and the joining instructions, and can you show that it did? A well-implemented ISO 29993 service answers with records from real courses. A badly implemented one adds forms that facilitators complete after the event.
Current edition. ISO 29993:2017, the first edition, was published in August 2017 by ISO/TC 232 and was reviewed and confirmed by ISO in 2023, so it remains current; no revision appears among the committee's projects in development at the time of writing, and there is no transition to plan. It took over the service requirements for learning service providers contained in ISO 29990:2010, which ISO withdrew in December 2018 and lists as revised by ISO 21001:2018, now ISO 21001:2025. ISO 29993 and ISO 21001: how the two standards share the work
Who it is for
Who needs ISO 29993 certification?
ISO 29993 fits any organisation whose business, or whose internal role, is delivering learning outside the formal education system: corporate training providers, e-learning and edtech providers, language schools, coaching and professional-development providers, and the internal academies of large organisations. The certificate's scope should name the learning services, delivery formats and locations you want covered, and nothing you do not. Providers come to Sterling for ISO 29993 from four starting points:
- Nobody has asked, and you want every course to be as good as your best one. Quality depends on which trainer turns up, proposals promise more than delivery provides, and evaluation forms are collected but rarely read. ISO 29993 turns the way your best courses already run into the way every course runs.
- A corporate client, a public funder or a tender asks for it. A client that acquires training for its employees is, in the standard's terms, a sponsor, and asking for ISO 29993 is asking for evidence that needs are analysed, courses are delivered as offered and results are evaluated. Confirm the scope, the certification body and any accreditation it expects before you invest.
- You are moving courses online or into new markets. Virtual classrooms, facilitated self-paced modules, blended programmes and partner-delivered courses abroad each loosen informal control. The standard treats face-to-face, technology-mediated and blended learning alike, which gives every new format the same defined starting point.
- You run an internal academy and the business wants proof of value. In-company training counts whether it is outsourced or delivered in-house. Treating the business units that commission training as sponsors, with a needs analysis, agreed goals and an evaluation, gives the academy a service record its leadership can read.
The intended benefit is learning that keeps its promises, and evidence that it does. Results depend on how the service is run every day and on the people who deliver it, not on the certificate alone.
Business benefits
How ISO 29993 builds trust with learners and the sponsors who pay
A learning service is judged twice: by the learner in the room or on the platform, and by the sponsor who signs the purchase order. We start where a vague proposal, an unprepared facilitator, an assessment nobody checks or a disputed invoice loses you a client, and build the service around those points.
- Proposals that answer the real needOffers built on an analysis of what the sponsor and the learners need, so the course that is sold is the course that is designed and delivered.
- Learners who know what they are joiningClear information before purchase and after enrolment on goals, format, prerequisites, assessment and conditions, and fewer surprises on the first morning.
- Courses designed, not improvisedLearning goals, methods, materials and assessment decided in advance and recorded, so a course runs the same way whichever facilitator delivers it.
- Facilitators you can vouch forEmployed and associate facilitators alike, with qualifications, subject knowledge and observed delivery on record before they face a group.
- Evidence that learning happenedAssessment of learning and evaluation of the service read together, so you can show a sponsor what changed, not only how many people attended.
- A cleaner commercial recordInvoices that match the proposal and the service delivered, so payment is not held up by arguments over what was agreed.
Track a few measures that match these priorities, such as courses with a recorded needs analysis, evaluation results, repeat business from sponsors or invoices queried, and check whether the service is improving. A thicker course folder is not a learning outcome.
Requirements
What are the main ISO 29993 requirements?
ISO 29993 is a compact standard of ten pages. After the scope, normative references and definitions in clauses 1 to 3, its requirements run from clause 4 to clause 14 in the order a learner or sponsor meets a learning service, from first information to the invoice. ISO adds that the way a service is planned and delivered varies with its context, so the sequence is a guide, not a script. The table maps each clause title in plain language, and the right-hand column shows the kind of evidence we typically build for it. During the programme your service is checked against the full wording of ISO 29993:2017, requirement by requirement.
| Clause | What it requires of you | What it looks like in practice |
|---|---|---|
| 4 General information provided by the LSP | The general information your organisation provides about itself and its learning services | Website pages, a course catalogue and standard terms that describe services, formats and conditions as they are actually delivered |
| 5 Proposal development | How you develop proposals for learning services, including those for sponsors acquiring services on behalf of learners | A proposal format that records the client's request, the needs it answers, the learning goals, the delivery plan and the commercial terms |
| 6 Information provided prior to acquisition of the learning service | The information learners and sponsors receive before they acquire the service | Course pages and pre-enrolment packs stating goals, target group, prerequisites, format, duration, assessment and price |
| 7 Needs analysis | Analysis of the learning needs the service is to meet | An analysis sized to the service: a short intake questionnaire for an open course, stakeholder interviews and a skills review for a corporate programme |
| 8 Design of the learning service | Design of the service to meet its defined learning goals | A course design record with learning goals, content outline, methods, materials, time plan, facilitator brief and assessment plan, approved before first delivery |
| 9 Information about the learning service for enrolled learners or their sponsors | The information enrolled learners, or their sponsors, receive about the service | Joining instructions, schedules, platform access, a named contact point for questions, and what happens if a session moves |
| 10 Service delivery | Delivery of the service, with subclauses on the staff engaged in delivery (10.1), learning material (10.2) and the learning environment (10.3) | Staff roles and competence, controlled versions of slides, workbooks and e-learning content, and room or platform checks before each course |
| 11 Facilitators | The facilitators who deliver the learning | Facilitator profiles, qualification and competence records, observed delivery and development plans, for associates as well as employees |
| 12 Assessment of learning | Assessment of the learning achieved | Assessment methods matched to the learning goals, marking guidance, and results recorded and returned to learners and, where agreed, to sponsors |
| 13 Monitoring and evaluation of the learning service | Monitoring and evaluation of the service | Learner, sponsor and facilitator feedback, completion and assessment data reviewed per course, with actions that change the next delivery |
| 14 Invoicing | Invoicing for the learning service | Invoices that trace back to the accepted proposal or published price, with cancellations and credits handled as the terms state |
What does useful ISO 29993 evidence look like?
Evidence for this standard comes from courses, not from a manual: proposals with the needs analysis behind them, pre-enrolment and joining information, course designs with learning goals and assessment plans, facilitator competence records, current learning material, assessment results, evaluations with the actions they triggered, and invoices that match the offer. We use the records your courses already generate, add only what is missing and hold them in Effivity from the first workshop, so the auditor can follow a real course from enquiry to invoice.
ISO 29993 requirements explained, from first contact to the invoiceCertification process
How do you get ISO 29993 certified?
Run your learning services to the standard first; an independent certification body then audits them. Sterling prepares and supports your organisation through design and implementation, and the certification decision stays with the certification body. That separation is what gives the certificate its weight with a sponsor or a funder.
- 01Decide which learning services the certificate will cover.Agree the courses and programmes, delivery formats, locations, sponsor types and the intended certification scope.
- 02Gap analysis: compare your learning services with the requirements. The gap analysis follows real courses from first information to invoice against ISO 29993, keeps what already works, and agrees actions, owners, dates and resources.
- 03Build the service and run it on live courses.Put the new formats and controls into use, brief facilitators and staff, and let the records accumulate through complete cycles of delivery, assessment and evaluation.
- 04Audit internally and close the findings.Trained internal auditors test every requirement against what happened on real courses; we raise the findings before the certification body can, and close them with evidence.
- 05Complete the independent certification audit. The certification body audits your learning services in the stages its own scheme sets, which may include a readiness review before the main audit; respond to any findings and await its decision.
- 06Keep the service improving after certification.Evaluation results keep feeding course design, alongside the surveillance and renewal that the certification body's scheme requires.
Judge a certification offer by what stands behind it, not only by its price. ISO 29993 is a service standard, so ask the certification body how it audits learning services, whether it observes delivery, what the certificate will name and how long it stays valid. Where accredited certification is offered, confirm the accreditation body, and check with that body directly that ISO 29993 sits inside the certification body's accredited scope. Be wary of offers with no implementation and no real audit: a certificate that fails a sponsor's due diligence leaves the course problems in place and the fee spent. Cost
How much does ISO 29993 certification cost?
No single price fits ISO 29993 work. A coaching practice with a handful of programmes needs a different scope from a training group running classroom, virtual and e-learning courses in several countries. What we commit to is a proposal that shows every component and states everything that is included.
| Cost component | What affects it |
|---|---|
| Consulting and implementation | How mature your course design and evaluation already are, the number of learning services, formats and locations in scope, the deliverables, and how much of the work your team carries (Design™ or Drive™) |
| Independent certification | The certification body's scheme and audit time, the courses, formats and sites it samples, any observation of delivery, travel and the surveillance arrangements |
| Internal resources | Time from programme managers, facilitators, sales and administration staff, updates to course material, platform settings or training rooms, and corrective work |
| Software and learning | Part of every Sterling engagement: Effivity for the service records and Sterling Academy access for your people, with users, courses and access period set out in the proposal |
| Continued support | Internal audits, record upkeep, refresher learning for facilitators and new staff, and course portfolio changes under Sustain™ |
What moves the price
- How many learning services and delivery formats are in scope
- Locations, countries and partner-delivered courses
- How many facilitators, employed and associate, need competence records
- Whether course designs and evaluations exist today, and how well they work
- The deadline, the course calendar and how much your team can carry
What a Sterling proposal always shows
- Deliverables, responsibilities, assumptions and exclusions, written down
- Certification-body fees on a separate line, so the whole cost can be compared
- Effivity, training and Academy access listed, at no additional cost
- Payments tied to deliverables rather than to calendar dates
- One all-inclusive proposal. No surprises, ever
Timeline
How long does ISO 29993 certification take?
Plan in months, typically three to five. The pace depends on how much of your service is already designed and recorded, how quickly programme managers and facilitators can take part, and the certification body's calendar. Evidence decides it: we plan for the courses in scope to pass through needs analysis, delivery, assessment and evaluation at least once under the new controls before the audit, so an auditor can see the service working. Milestones follow your course calendar and are tracked in Effivity.
| Phase | What determines the pace |
|---|---|
| Scope and gap analysis | Access to programme managers, facilitators, sales staff, course files, and past proposals and evaluations |
| Build and implementation | How far proposal, information, design and evaluation practice has to change, approval of new templates, and facilitator briefings |
| Evidence and review | Courses in scope completing a full cycle from needs analysis to evaluation under the new controls, followed by the internal audit |
| Certification audit | The certification body's availability, its audit stages, any delivery it wants to observe, and the time needed to close findings |
If a sponsor contract, a tender closing date or a funding round depends on the certificate, tell us at the outset; we will say what is realistic and which decisions have to be made early. A certificate date promised before anyone has looked at your courses is a sales line, not a plan.
Challenges
Common ISO 29993 implementation challenges
ISO 29993 projects in training businesses tend to stall on the same five problems. Each has a workable answer.
Every facilitator runs the course their own way.
Capture the course design once, with learning goals, methods, materials, timing and assessment, and brief every facilitator on it. Their experience still shapes the session; the design fixes what the learner was promised.
Needs analysis is skipped when a client wants a course next week.
Scale the analysis to the service. A short structured conversation and a pre-course questionnaire can be enough for an urgent request, provided the result is recorded and the design visibly responds to it.
What sales promises and what the course delivers drift apart.
Link the proposal, the pre-enrolment information and the course design so that a change to one prompts a check of the others, and make sure the invoice matches what was agreed. In Effivity the three records sit side by side.
Associate and freelance facilitators are hard to evidence.
Keep the same competence record for associates as for employees: qualifications, subject expertise, observed delivery, feedback results and development. Keep it light enough that a busy associate will actually update it.
Evaluation stops at the end-of-course feedback form.
Read learner feedback together with assessment results, sponsor comments and facilitator observations, and decide what changes in the next delivery. An evaluation that never alters a course is a filing exercise.

How we deliver
How Sterling supports your ISO 29993 implementation
Each ISO 29993 engagement runs on Sterling OS™, our delivery operating system, in five phases, each with defined deliverables, a decision owner and evidence before the next step begins. You decide how much of the work your team takes on; the method, the software and our accountability stay the same.
- 01Design™Guided implementation: your programme managers build the service with Sterling's structure, templates, workshops and coaching.
- 02Drive™Fully managed consulting: Sterling consultants carry the agreed work alongside your facilitators, sales and administration staff.
- 03Sustain™After certification: surveillance readiness, internal audits, facilitator refreshers and induction for new staff and associates, every year.
- 04Automate™The service records in Effivity: proposals, course designs, facilitator competence, evaluations, actions and reports in one workspace.
- 05Revise™New courses and formats, new markets, an added ISO 21001 system, and any future revision of ISO 29993.
At kick-off we agree the engagement team, the weekly working session, the deliverables and who decides what. Progress is then reviewed against those commitments, so gaps surface early rather than in front of the certification body.

Effivity · ISO 29993 learning service software, included in every engagement
How Effivity helps you fulfil, automate and simplify the requirements of ISO 29993:2017.
Every Sterling ISO 29993 engagement comes with Effivity, the ISO and GRC automation platform built by the Sterling group and used in 50+ countries. Your consultant configures a workspace for your learning services within the agreed scope, so proposals, course designs, facilitator competence, learning material versions, assessment results and evaluations sit in one place. The service runs in daily work, and the auditor follows a live course record instead of a binder assembled for the visit. As a Sterling consulting client, your subscription is included with the engagement, at no additional cost.

Provider information and course catalogue
The catalogue, standard terms and provider information held as controlled records with owners and review dates, so what the website says matches what the courses deliver.
Proposals for sponsors, from request to acceptance
Each client request logged with its needs, the proposal issued and the version accepted, linked forward to the course design and, at the end, to the invoice raised against it.
Information before and after enrolment
Pre-enrolment information and the joining instructions that enrolled learners or their sponsors receive, kept as current versions, so every learner gets the same accurate picture of the course.
Needs analysis records
Intake questionnaires, stakeholder interviews and skills reviews captured on forms built for your services, and linked to the proposal and the design they informed.
Course designs and learning goals
Design records with learning goals, content, methods, materials, time plans and assessment approach, reviewed and approved before first delivery, with changes tracked from version to version.
Staff, learning material and learning environment
Roles for the staff engaged in delivery, controlled versions of slides, workbooks and e-learning content, and checklists for rooms, equipment and virtual platforms completed before each course.
Facilitator competence and development
A profile for every facilitator, employed or associate, with qualifications, observed delivery, feedback results and development actions, linked to Sterling Academy where training is completed.
Assessment results, evaluation and action
Assessment results and learner, sponsor and facilitator feedback on live dashboards by course and facilitator, with the actions they trigger tracked until the next delivery shows the change.
What this means at the audit
We prepare you for an audit trail that follows a real course: the information published about it, the proposal or enrolment, the needs analysis, the design, the facilitator's record, the material used, the assessment, the evaluation and the invoice. In Effivity that trail is a set of linked screens with dates, owners and evidence, not a folder someone reconstructs the week before the audit. After certification, Sustain™ runs in the same workspace, so each surveillance visit finds records that kept building.
In your engagement
- Subscription included with the engagement, at no additional cost
- Set up by your Sterling consultant within the agreed scope
- Existing course files, proposals and evaluation records migrated, not retyped
- Admin and user training for programme managers and coordinators

Integrated programmes with ISO 29993 in scope
Where ISO 29993 sits in a training provider's programme.
- 01Integrated management systems
Training provider: ISO 29993 services on an ISO 21001 or ISO 9001 system
How such a programme typically runs: the management system, ISO 21001 or ISO 9001, supplies leadership, risk planning, internal audit and management review, while ISO 29993 sets what each learning service must meet, from the information given and the proposal to design, facilitators, assessment, evaluation and invoicing. One gap analysis and one set of Effivity records serve both, and the certification body is asked whether it can audit them together. For online courses, ISO/IEC 27001 can be added for the platform and the learner data it holds.
Sterling Academy · ISO 29993 e-learning
Train every facilitator and coordinator on ISO 29993, not just the quality lead.
Sterling Academy provides e-learning for everyone who sells, designs, delivers or administers your courses, and for the people who keep the service on track: video lessons with practice checkpoints, a final exam and a numbered Certificate of Completion for each participant, verifiable online. Sterling consulting clients arrange preferential Sterling Academy course access and special pricing with their consultant, including complimentary awareness training for their people as part of the engagement.
- ISO 29993 awareness for facilitators, programme managers, sales and administration staff
- Practitioner courses for the people who own course design, evaluation and records
- Internal auditor training for the people who will audit your learning services, as applicable to your standard, as part of the engagement
- Progress by team or location, and a training status report you can show the certification auditor
- New facilitators and associates trained as they join, so records stay current at every surveillance visit
- A Sterling consultant on hand when a participant has a question

Why Sterling
Want successful ISO 29993 certification? Come to Sterling.
Whether you run one training centre or deliver courses for clients in several countries, Sterling helps you settle one way of proposing, designing, delivering and evaluating learning, with room for local languages, markets and delivery partners. Sales, programme management and facilitation each own a part of the service they recognise.
Implementation experience in 60+ countries since 2003
Standards implemented with organisations of every size in 60+ countries since 2003, on the same method we bring to your learning services, with one engagement team accountable wherever you deliver.
All-inclusive proposal
Consulting, Effivity, training and Academy access in one proposal, with the certification body's charges shown on their own line. No surprises, ever.
A service your facilitators will use
Less paperwork and more effect: course records, training and software built into how you sell, design and deliver, so facilitators use the system instead of working around it.
Expert and experienced consultants
Consultants who have advised on management systems across sectors and countries since 2003, who understand needs analysis, course design and evaluation as well as the standard's clauses, and who get your service right the first time, so the certification audit confirms what already works.
The Sterling Promise
What our ISO 29993 certification success guarantee means
Until your agreed ISO 29993 certification outcome is achieved, we stay with you: through implementation, preparation for the audit and the closure of any findings. Plain explanations, practical delivery, included software and staff learning leave you with a service that keeps improving, not a certificate framed at reception.
The engagement sets out the standard, the scope, the outcome and each side's responsibilities. Your organisation provides accurate information and puts the agreed controls into use on its courses. Conformity is assessed by the independent certification body, which alone makes the certification decision. Our commitment covers the agreed certification support, not sponsor contracts, enrolment numbers or flawless delivery of every course.
After certification
What happens after ISO 29993 certification?
Certification is a checkpoint in the life of your courses, not the finish line. New clients bring new needs, facilitators come and go, material ages and platforms change, and the service has to keep working through all of it. The certification body comes back for surveillance on the schedule its scheme sets, and for renewal before the certificate expires.
As your portfolio grows, the service should grow with it. Under Sterling OS™ Sustain™ we review evaluation results, sponsor feedback, facilitator performance and recurring issues with you, alongside planned internal audits and surveillance preparation, so the service stays in shape between audits instead of being rescued the week before one.
FAQs
Frequently asked questions about ISO 29993
Is ISO 29993 a management system standard?
No. It sets service requirements for learning services outside formal education, organised around what a learner or sponsor experiences, from first information to invoicing. It has no clause for leadership, risk planning, internal audit or management review; if you want those, pair it with ISO 21001 or ISO 9001.
ISO 29993 or ISO 21001: which does a training provider need?
They answer different questions. ISO 29993 examines whether each learning service is described, proposed, analysed, designed, delivered, assessed, evaluated and invoiced as it should be. ISO 21001:2025 is a management system standard for educational organisations, on the clause 4 to 10 structure shared with ISO 9001, and asks whether the organisation is led, planned, audited and improved as a system. A provider that wants both a credible service and a well-run organisation implements the two together, and we map the overlap so nothing is done twice.
Does ISO 29993 cover e-learning, virtual classrooms and blended courses?
Yes. ISO describes the learning in scope as face-to-face, mediated by technology or a blend of both, where the goals of learning are defined, the service is evaluated and there is interaction with the learner. For an edtech business, the scoping question is which of your offers fit that description. If much of your delivery is remote, look also at ISO 29994:2021, which sets requirements for distance learning.
We run an internal academy for our own employees. Does ISO 29993 apply?
It can. The standard covers in-company training whether outsourced or run in-house, and where the provider sits inside an organisation that also delivers other goods or services, it applies to the learning services only. The business units that commission training act as sponsors, which gives the academy a clear way to agree needs, goals and evaluation with them.
Can a school, college or university be certified to ISO 29993?
ISO 29993 is not aimed at schools, colleges and universities teaching within a formal education system, although ISO notes that it can serve them as a tool for reflection and self-evaluation. For the institution's own management system, ISO 21001 is the standard written for the purpose.
We are a language school. Should we use ISO 29993 or ISO 29991?
ISO 29991:2020 sets requirements specifically for language-learning services, while ISO 29993 covers learning services outside formal education in general. The right choice depends on your portfolio and on what your sponsors, partners and markets recognise; a school that also runs other kinds of training may need the broader standard. We help you decide before any work is scoped.
Does Sterling issue the ISO 29993 certificate?
No. Sterling consults, designs and prepares; an independent certification body audits and makes the decision. Where accredited certification is offered, check the accreditation and its scope with the accreditation body itself. A firm that offers to consult and certify in one package is offering paper.
What happened to ISO 29990?
ISO withdrew ISO 29990:2010 in December 2018. The foreword of ISO 29993:2017 states that the service requirements for a learning service provider contained in ISO 29990 are addressed in ISO 29993, and ISO lists ISO 21001:2018, now ISO 21001:2025, as the revision of ISO 29990. A provider that once worked to ISO 29990 therefore looks to ISO 29993 for its services and to ISO 21001 for its management system.
What does Sterling's 100% success guarantee mean for ISO 29993?
It means we remain engaged until the ISO 29993 certification outcome agreed in your engagement is reached, including support to close any audit findings. The engagement letter names the standard, the scope and the outcome, and the decision itself belongs to the certification body.
What do you need to prepare an ISO 29993 proposal?
The courses, programmes and delivery formats to be covered, your locations, how many facilitators and staff are involved, whether a certificate exists today, any client, funder or tender requirement, and your target date. Those details are all a scoped, all-inclusive proposal requires.
Before the first call
Prepare a useful ISO 29993 readiness brief
You do not need a quality manual or a finished course catalogue for the first conversation. A short account of what you deliver, to whom and how will do. Seven questions cover it:
- Who is asking for ISO 29993, a client, a funder, a tender or your own leadership, and which courses, formats and locations do they expect it to cover?
- Which learning services do you offer: open courses, programmes designed for corporate clients, e-learning, coaching, or training for your own employees?
- How do you find out what a client or learner needs before a course is designed or sold?
- How are courses designed and approved, and who decides when a course or its material changes?
- How many facilitators deliver for you, how many are associates or freelancers, and what records exist of their competence?
- What do learner evaluations, sponsor feedback, assessment results or invoice queries tell you about where to start?
- Is there a contract, tender date, funding round or peak season to plan the audit around?
Your answers let us size the work and price it realistically. They prepare a discussion; nothing in them is scored, and none of it is a certification decision.
Don’t be fooled by certification scams
If it takes ten days, it is not ISO 29993 certification.
An ISO 29993 certificate is worth something when an independent body has seen your learning services working and the scope matches what a sponsor is actually procuring. The training market has its own shortcuts: certificates issued on the strength of a document pack, consultants who write everything while your facilitators never hear of the standard, and audits that never look at a course. They cost less, until a corporate client's supplier review, a funder or a tender panel checks.
How to choose a credible ISO 29993 provider
- Ask which certification body will issue the certificate and how a sponsor can confirm its status and scope directly with that body.
- Ask whether the certification is accredited, and by whom. Where accredited certification is offered, verify with the accreditation body itself that ISO 29993 is inside the accredited scope; where it is not, ask what the certificate is recognised for.
- Ask how the audit will look at real courses: proposals, needs analyses, designs, facilitator records, assessments and evaluations. Documents should describe your services, not a template with another provider's name still in the footer.
- Find out who does each task, which audit fees sit outside the consulting fee, and who helps when a finding needs corrective action.
- Ask what your facilitators and staff will learn and where the records will live. Without training and a working system, nothing outlasts the consultant's last visit.
- Walk away from "certified in 7 to 10 days", "we write everything" and a single invoice for consultancy and certificate. Learning services have to run under the standard, and be evaluated, before anyone can audit them.
