In short

ISO 9001 certification in Abu Dhabi at a glance

A hospital supplier, a KEZAD manufacturer and a Masdar City engineering firm are all asked about quality, in different words. The Department of Health publishes accreditation standards for Abu Dhabi hospitals that it describes as internationally accredited by ISQua, so healthcare buyers are used to formal quality systems. KEZAD's customers include pharmaceutical, metals and food buyers who audit suppliers, and contractors in building and construction work for developers who prequalify them. ISO 9001 gives all of them the same base: defined processes, customer focus, risk-based planning, internal audit and corrective action, with an accredited certification body issuing the certificate. Sterling's Dubai office serves Abu Dhabi from Dubai, with Effivity and Sterling Academy included.

What ISO 9001 requires

You deal with risks before they biteRisks and opportunities that could affect your products, services or customer satisfaction are identified and acted on in proportion.
Problems get fixed at the rootComplaints, defects and nonconformities are recorded, corrected and traced to their cause so the same problem does not return.
You measure, review and improvePerformance and customer satisfaction are monitored, internal audits and management reviews take place, and the results drive improvement.

ISO 9001 in Abu Dhabi: questions clients ask

Do Abu Dhabi hospitals have to hold ISO 9001?

No. The Department of Health publishes hospital accreditation standards for the emirate, which it describes as internationally accredited by ISQua, and these are separate from ISO 9001. A hospital's suppliers may still be asked for ISO 9001 evidence, which each hospital decides.

Where is ISO 9001 most often requested in Abu Dhabi?

By KEZAD manufacturers' customers, and by developers prequalifying construction contractors. Neither is a rule from an authority; the request sits in supplier terms. Read the clause in each contract to see whether a certificate or a described system is wanted.
