ISO 45001 certification in Abu Dhabi at a glance
For construction firms, ISO 45001 is not the route into Abu Dhabi work: the sector regulatory authority reviews and approves OSHAD System Framework submissions from developers, consultants and contractors under Decree No. 42 of 2009, and it says it is not an accreditation body for ISO certificates. Existing ISO certification, in its words, does not change the approval process. The standard still has a place, because KEZAD factories, Khalifa Port tenants and Masdar City engineers face client prequalification, and an ISO 45001 system covers hazard control, worker consultation and incident learning that a framework submission can draw on. An accredited certification body issues the certificate. Sterling's Dubai office serves Abu Dhabi, with Effivity and Sterling Academy included.

ISO 45001 in Abu Dhabi: questions clients ask
Does ISO 45001 satisfy OSHAD in Abu Dhabi?
Not as a replacement. For a developer, consultant or contractor, the sector authority's review rests on the OSHAD System Framework, and it states that it does not accredit ISO certificates and that holding one leaves its approval process unchanged. Use ISO 45001 to strengthen your system, and ask the authority what it needs.
Which Abu Dhabi sites use ISO 45001 beyond construction?
Factories in KEZAD and operators around Khalifa Port, where client prequalification and hazardous work make safety evidence routine. The customer decides whether it wants a certificate or another form of proof, so ask what evidence is accepted before you scope any work.
