SOC 2 attestation in Poland at a glance
SOC suite of services (AICPA & CIMA) is the instrument itself: it applies to the organisations within its scope, and buyers and partners in Poland ask for evidence that you meet it.
US and multinational buyers often ask a Polish SaaS, cloud or business-services company for one document before signing: a SOC 2 report. It is an attestation, not a certificate, issued by a licensed CPA firm after examining the controls of the service organisation against the AICPA's criteria, and the AICPA promulgates the professional standards for SOC engagements. Shared-service centres, BPO operations and fintechs that process client data are common in the Polish market, and their customers rarely accept a policy document in place of independent evidence. Financial customers add their own pressure: the Komisja Nadzoru Finansowego is the competent authority for banking cybersecurity, and the amending National Cybersecurity System Act cross-refers to DORA. Because the control sets overlap heavily, one control framework and evidence library can serve SOC 2 and an ISO/IEC 27001 certificate. Sterling's Frankfurt office prepares readiness, control design and evidence for Polish clients; the CPA firm issues the report. Effivity and Sterling Academy are included.
Who needs SOC 2 in Poland, and what happens without it
In Poland the question rarely comes from a law. It comes from the buyer, the regulator or the partner that wants proof before it signs. These are the organisations that get asked.
- SaaS, cloud and software companies selling to US or multinational customersSOC 2 is the assurance report overseas enterprise buyers ask for in procurement.
- BPO and shared-service providers processing client dataClients want an independent report on the controls of the service organisation.
- Fintechs and payment providersFinancial customers and supervisors look closely at outsourced ICT service controls.
- Companies that already hold ISO/IEC 27001The control sets overlap, so existing evidence is reused.
Not sure which of these applies to you?Answer a short set of questions and your readiness report arrives by e-mail.
Take the SOC 2 readiness checkSOC 2 requirements in Poland
Strip away the vocabulary and SOC 2 asks a service organisation to report on six things about the controls behind its service.
In Poland these six sit alongside the local laws and regulations listed under drivers below; one system can evidence both. The detail is on the global hub: SOC 2 explained →

How long does SOC 2 attestation take in Poland?
There is no standard duration: it depends on your scope and on how much of the system already runs. In Poland these are the factors that set the timeline.
- Trust services categories and systems in scope
- Maturity of policies, controls and evidence collection
- Length of the observation period for a Type 2 report
- CPA firm availability
Sterling agrees a dated plan with you on the discovery call, once the scope is known.
How much does SOC 2 attestation cost in Poland?
The cost has two parts: the consulting work to build and prove the system, and the CPA firm’s fees, which are quoted separately. In Poland these factors move both.
- Number of systems, services and trust services categories
- Control remediation and tooling for evidence collection
- CPA firm examination fees, quoted separately from consulting
- Integration with ISO/IEC 27001 evidence
Sterling gives one customised, all-inclusive proposal after the discovery call, never before the scope is agreed.
SOC 2 consultants and auditors in Poland
Two different organisations are involved. A consultant helps you build the system and prove it works; a licensed CPA firm then audits or assesses it and decides. Keeping the two separate is what makes the result credible to buyers and regulators.
- Check that the body’s accreditation or approval covers SOC 2 and your sector, and that its certificates can be verified online.
- Ask the consultant how the local requirements in Poland are mapped into the same system, so nothing runs twice.
- Ask for client references in your sector; Sterling’s client letters are available on request.
- Agree who owns the evidence and the tool after the engagement; with Sterling the system stays yours, in Effivity.

SOC 2 in Poland: questions clients ask
Who issues a SOC 2 report for a Polish company?
A licensed CPA firm, under the AICPA's professional standards for SOC engagements. The AICPA describes SOC as a suite of services that CPAs may provide on the controls of a service organisation. Sterling prepares your controls and evidence but does not issue the report, so select a firm that is licensed for SOC work and check its credentials.
Is SOC 2 the same as ISO 27001?
No. SOC 2 is an attestation report by a CPA firm on a service organisation's controls, while ISO/IEC 27001 is a management-system certificate from an accredited certification body. The control sets overlap, so one control framework and evidence library can serve both. Customers decide which they accept, and some ask for both.
Does a Polish financial customer require SOC 2?
Not by law. The Komisja Nadzoru Finansowego is the competent authority for banking cybersecurity, and the amending Act cross-refers to DORA, but no report type is named. A bank or fintech sets its own vendor-assurance requirements, which may include SOC 2, ISO/IEC 27001 or its own audit rights. Ask the customer in writing what it accepts.
Can a SOC 2 report help with GDPR processor requirements?
It can support the security part. Processors handling personal data for clients are supervised under the GDPR by the President of the UODO, and clients look for evidence of security controls. A SOC 2 report is such evidence but is not named in the Polish Act and does not prove GDPR compliance. Keep your processor contract, records and notices in order as well.
