In short

ISO 37001 certification in Jordan at a glance

One Jordanian instrument bears on ISO 37001. It does not name the standard. So why do buyers in Jordan keep asking for the certificate?

Public works, export agents and multinational supply chains put anti-bribery questions to Jordanian companies. The Jordan Integrity and Anti-Corruption Commission leads the national integrity effort, though its published profile does not name ISO 37001, and the Government Tenders Department runs procedures through an electronic system where each tender document sets its own criteria. The standard is therefore a voluntary management system, and an accredited certification body issues certificates, never Sterling. It asks for risk assessment, due diligence on third parties, financial controls, training and a reporting and investigation channel. A certificate does not remove legal exposure, but it shows partners that controls are in place and tested. Sterling's Dubai office helps contractors, exporters and subsidiaries assess risk, draft proportionate procedures and rehearse the audit, with Effivity and Sterling Academy included with the engagement.

The need

Who needs ISO 37001 in Jordan, and what happens without it

In Jordan the question rarely comes from a law. It comes from the buyer, the regulator or the partner that wants proof before it signs. These are the organisations that get asked.

  • Contractors and suppliers bidding for public worksPublic procurement raises integrity expectations, and tender documents set their own criteria and declarations.
  • Companies exporting through agents and distributorsThird parties create bribery exposure that customers and partners ask suppliers to control.
  • Banks and financial institutionsCompliance functions combine anti-corruption controls with sector governance expectations.
  • Multinationals' Jordanian subsidiaries and suppliersGroup policies and foreign laws are passed down to local entities and their suppliers.

Requirements

ISO 37001 requirements in Jordan

Strip away the vocabulary and ISO 37001 requires a company to prove six things about how it prevents, detects and responds to bribery.

Leadership says no to briberyTop management and the governing body set an anti-bribery policy and show visible, consistent commitment to it.
Someone independent oversees complianceAn anti-bribery compliance function has the authority and independence to oversee the system.
You assessed your bribery risksBribery risks across activities, locations, business partners and transactions are assessed and kept up to date.
People and partners are checkedDue diligence covers relevant staff, business partners and projects, with controls on gifts, hospitality and donations.
Financial and other controls workFinancial and non-financial controls make it hard to pay or receive a bribe without it being noticed.
Concerns can be raised and investigatedStaff can report concerns in confidence without retaliation, and suspected bribery is investigated and acted on.

In Jordan these six sit alongside the local laws and regulations listed under drivers below; one system can evidence both. The detail is on the global hub: ISO 37001 explained →

Time

How long does ISO 37001 certification take in Jordan?

There is no standard duration: it depends on your scope and on how much of the system already runs. In Jordan these are the factors that set the timeline.

  • Scope of operations, jurisdictions and third parties
  • Depth of bribery risk assessment and due diligence
  • Time to run training, investigations procedures and an internal audit
  • Certification body scheduling around Eid

Sterling agrees a dated plan with you on the discovery call, once the scope is known.

Cost

How much does ISO 37001 certification cost in Jordan?

The cost has two parts: the consulting work to build and prove the system, and the certification body’s audit fees, which are quoted separately. In Jordan these factors move both.

  • Number of sites, staff and high-risk relationships in scope
  • Due diligence on agents and suppliers
  • Certification body audit fees, quoted separately from consulting
  • Legal review of policies

Sterling gives one customised, all-inclusive proposal after the discovery call, never before the scope is agreed.

Choosing a partner

ISO 37001 consultants and certification bodies in Jordan

Two different organisations are involved. A consultant helps you build the system and prove it works; an accredited certification body then audits or assesses it and decides. Keeping the two separate is what makes the result credible to buyers and regulators.

  • Check that the body’s accreditation or approval covers ISO 37001 and your sector, and that its certificates can be verified online.
  • Ask the consultant how the local requirements in Jordan are mapped into the same system, so nothing runs twice.
  • Ask for client references in your sector; Sterling’s client letters are available on request.
  • Agree who owns the evidence and the tool after the engagement; with Sterling the system stays yours, in Effivity.

Laws and regulations that drive ISO 37001 in Jordan (3)

    InstrumentHow it treats the standard
    Jordan Integrity and Anti-Corruption CommissionContext
The national authority on integrity and anti-corruption; its published profile does not name ISO 37001.
Government Tenders Department purchasing and contractor classificationDoes not name the standard
The published pages describe procedures, forms and the electronic purchasing system, and each tender document sets its own criteria.
Jordan Accreditation System – Accreditation Unit (JAS-AU) and the recognition arrangement's member listAccreditation
The arrangement's member list dated 31 December 2025 shows JAS-AU with a product certification scope and no management systems scope, so the accreditation behind a ISO 37001 certificate must be checked; this is not a mandate.

Accreditation, audit language and remote audits in Jordan

Use a certification body accredited for ISO 37001 by an accreditation body within the international mutual recognition arrangements (Global ACI — Global Accreditation Cooperation Incorporated, formerly the IAF MLA); check that the accreditation scope covers the standard and your sector. The arrangement's member list dated 31 December 2025 shows Jordan's accreditation unit, JAS-AU, with a product certification scope and no management systems scope, so ask which accreditation body stands behind the certificate. The accredited certification body decides, not Sterling. Edition and transition details: ISO 37001 hub →

    Audit language

Arabic and English are both used in audits and documents; agree the audit language, any interpreter and the language of controlled documents with the certification body at application, and say early if interviews will run in Arabic.

    Remote and on-site

Remote audit elements are at the certification body's discretion under its accreditation rules; plants, warehouses and operational sites are normally visited on-site.

ISO 37001 in Jordan: questions clients ask

Does the Jordan Integrity and Anti-Corruption Commission require ISO 37001?

Its published profile describes its national integrity and anti-corruption role and does not name the standard, so certification is voluntary. A company chooses it to show customers, partners and tender evaluators a tested anti-bribery system. Confirm any specific obligation you have with counsel.

Can ISO 37001 help in a government tender in Jordan?

Only if the tender document says so. The Government Tenders Department's published pages describe procedures and forms, and each tender sets its own criteria. A certificate can still support declarations about integrity, but read each document carefully and never assume it counts as a requirement.

What does an anti-bribery management system include?

A policy, leadership commitment, a risk assessment, due diligence on third parties, financial and commercial controls, training, a reporting channel and investigation procedure, and regular review. Auditors sample how these work in practice, so small firms should keep procedures proportionate and keep records of decisions.

Who certifies ISO 37001 for a Jordanian company?

Accredited certification bodies; Sterling does not certify and no certificate removes legal exposure. Because the end-of-2025 listing shows Jordan's accreditation unit for product certification only, check where a candidate's accreditation comes from and that its scope names anti-bribery management systems.
