Sterling OS™
Sterling OS™ Design™: build with your team: video
A one-minute film on guided implementation: how your own people build a management system with expert structure behind them.
Key takeaways
- Design™ is guided implementation: your team builds the system with Sterling's coaching.
- A gap analysis keeps existing good practice and builds only what is missing.
- Documents are written from how the operation runs, no thicker than needed.
- Procedures are released in Effivity and records are created as work happens.
- Drive™ follows the same stages when the work needs to be fully managed.
Implementation your people build and own
Design™ is the guided form of implementation in Sterling OS™. Your team implements the management system with Sterling's structure, template sets, workshops and coaching, while expert and experienced consultants carry the method and check the quality. It suits organisations with people who can give time to the work and want to own the system they will run, and it applies to any ISO management system standard or compliance framework.
This one-minute film introduces the approach. The pages on implementation and documentation support set out the same method in full, from the first workshop to documents people actually follow.
Design™ is often chosen by organisations that want to build internal capability, so that the people who will audit and improve the system have also written it.
What guided implementation involves
The work runs in five stages, with a weekly working session and a named deliverable at the end of each. It begins with the scope and a gap analysis: the standard and edition, the activities and sites in scope, and a comparison of what exists today, written or simply practised, against each requirement, so good practice is kept and only the missing pieces are built. Processes are then mapped and the documents they need are listed, each with an owner.
Under Design™ your team does more of the drafting, with Sterling reviewing and coaching, and the documents are written from the way the operation runs, at the depth the risks and the standard call for and no thicker. Procedures are released in Effivity, people are trained and records are created as the work is done, not reconstructed the week before an audit. An internal audit and a management review then test the system before a customer, regulator or certification body does.
Where an organisation's people do not have the time, Drive™ applies the same stages with Sterling consultants doing more of the work; the quality bar is the same either way. Certification decisions remain with the independent certification body.
