ISO 22000 certification in Abu Dhabi at a glance
Is your food business inside ADGM, inside KEZAD or neither? The answer shapes which rules you see first. ADGM-licensed outlets must follow the health and safety requirements issued by the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority, as Registration Authority Circular No. 35 of 2020 states, while KEZAD's food and agtech clients sit beside Khalifa Port and sell to retailers that audit suppliers. ISO 22000 offers both a food safety management system that joins HACCP with leadership, communication and improvement, certified by an accredited body. It suits caterers, ingredient suppliers, packers and processors who do not need a specific retail scheme. Sterling's Dubai office serves Abu Dhabi from Dubai, with Effivity and Sterling Academy included with the engagement.

ISO 22000 in Abu Dhabi: questions clients ask
What food safety rules apply to an ADGM-licensed outlet?
The ADGM Registration Authority requires licensed food and beverage establishments to meet the health and safety requirements in ADAFSA's circulars and guidelines, as updated over time, and monitors compliance. It does not name ISO 22000. Check current ADAFSA guidance before planning any certification.
When is ISO 22000 chosen over FSSC 22000 in Abu Dhabi?
When the customer accepts it. KEZAD's food and agtech clients sell to a range of buyers, and some name FSSC 22000 while others accept ISO 22000. Confirm the scheme in the buyer's supplier terms before you commit to the standard.
