In short

AS9100 certification in Jordan at a glance

In Jordan, AS9100 is asked for by buyers and schemes rather than required by law. The drivers below show where the pressure comes from.

Jordan has machine shops, electronics assemblers and precision manufacturers that can reach aerospace supply chains, but the pull comes from the customer rather than the state. Aerospace primes and large tier suppliers write AS9100-series certification into purchase terms, and the standard builds on ISO 9001 with extra control over configuration, product safety, counterfeit parts and risk. Jordanian support services help at the edges: the Jordan Standards and Metrology Organization's metrology department calibrates measuring instruments, and Jordan's accreditation unit is an ILAC signatory for testing and calibration laboratories, so a workshop can trace its measurements locally. Certification itself comes from bodies authorised through the aerospace sector's own scheme, never from Sterling, and the national accreditation listing at the end of 2025 shows product certification only for Jordan. Sterling's Dubai office helps suppliers read customer flow-down clauses, extend an existing ISO 9001 system and rehearse the audit, with Effivity and Sterling Academy included with the engagement.

The need

Who needs AS9100 in Jordan, and what happens without it

In Jordan the question rarely comes from a law. It comes from the buyer, the regulator or the partner that wants proof before it signs. These are the organisations that get asked.

  • Machine shops, fabricators and electronics assemblers supplying aerospace customersAerospace primes and large tier suppliers write AS9100-series certification into purchase terms, so the requirement arrives through the contract rather than through a Jordanian rule.
  • Precision and medical manufacturers diversifying into aerospaceFirms with an ISO 9001 or ISO 13485 system extend it step by step to meet aerospace flow-down clauses on configuration, product safety and counterfeit parts.
  • Aviation support and logistics firms linked to airports and the Aqaba zoneCustomers and aviation authorities abroad set the approvals these firms must hold, and a certified aerospace quality system is often requested alongside them.

AS9100 requirements in Jordan

Strip away the vocabulary and AS9100 asks a supplier to prove six things about delivering aerospace products safely and on time.

Product safety is managedRisks to product safety are identified and controlled throughout the product's life, from design to delivery.
Configuration is under controlThe approved configuration of each product is identified, changes are controlled and records match what was delivered.
Counterfeit parts are kept outPurchasing, inspection and supplier controls stop counterfeit or suspect parts from entering the product.
Operational risks are managedRisks to delivery and product conformity are assessed and controlled during planning and production.
Production is proven before it runsProduction process verification, such as first article inspection, confirms that processes can make conforming product.
Delivery and conformity are measuredOn-time delivery and product conformity are measured, and human factors are considered when nonconformities are investigated.

In Jordan these six sit alongside the local laws and regulations listed under drivers below; one system can evidence both. The detail is on the global hub: AS9100 explained →

How Sterling gets a Jordanian company certified

How to get AS9100 certified in Jordan

One team from the Dubai office carries the work from scoping to certificate. Clients across Jordan are served from Sterling's Dubai office, on-site where the work needs it and remotely otherwise.

    1. Discovery call and scopeEntities, locations, regulators and target date, agreed before any proposal.
    2. Gap assessment against AS9100 and the Jordanian requirements that apply to youControls you already run for your regulators and customers are reused, not rebuilt.
    3. Your system built with your team in EffivityRisks, controls, evidence, incidents and reviews in one live system the auditor can see.
    4. Internal audit, management review and corrective actionsYour internal auditors trained by Sterling; the evidence proven before the certification body arrives.
    5. Certification body stage 1 and stage 2, then surveillanceAn accredited body audits and decides. Sterling supports the audits and the three-year cycle.

      Time

How long does AS9100 certification take in Jordan?

There is no standard duration: it depends on your scope and on how much of the system already runs. In Jordan these are the factors that set the timeline.

      • Number of sites and aerospace programmes in scope
      • Customer flow-down clauses and special requirements to map
      • Readiness of configuration, first article and counterfeit-part controls
      • Scheme-authorised certification body availability

Sterling agrees a dated plan with you on the discovery call, once the scope is known.

      Cost

How much does AS9100 certification cost in Jordan?

The cost has two parts: the consulting work to build and prove the system, and the certification body’s audit fees, which are quoted separately. In Jordan these factors move both.

      • Number of sites and headcount in scope
      • Effort to extend an existing ISO 9001 system
      • Calibration and special process approvals required by customers
      • Certification body audit fees, quoted separately from consulting

Sterling gives one customised, all-inclusive proposal after the discovery call, never before the scope is agreed.

        Choosing a partner

AS9100 consultants and certification bodies in Jordan

Two different organisations are involved. A consultant helps you build the system and prove it works; an accredited certification body then audits or assesses it and decides. Keeping the two separate is what makes the result credible to buyers and regulators.

        • Check that the body’s accreditation or approval covers AS9100 and your sector, and that its certificates can be verified online.
        • Ask the consultant how the local requirements in Jordan are mapped into the same system, so nothing runs twice.
        • Ask for client references in your sector; Sterling’s client letters are available on request.
        • Agree who owns the evidence and the tool after the engagement; with Sterling the system stays yours, in Effivity.

Laws and regulations that drive AS9100 in Jordan (2)

          InstrumentHow it treats the standard
Jordan Standards and Metrology Organization — metrology departmentContext
Offers calibration of measuring instruments, which supports the measurement traceability aerospace customers ask suppliers to show.
Jordan Accreditation System – Accreditation Unit (JAS-AU) and the recognition arrangement's member listAccreditation
The arrangement's member list dated 31 December 2025 shows JAS-AU with a product certification scope and no management systems scope, so the accreditation behind a AS9100 certificate must be checked; this is not a mandate.

Accreditation, audit language and remote audits in Jordan

AS9100-series certificates are issued by certification bodies authorised through the aerospace sector's own scheme, so ask a candidate for proof of that authorisation as well as its accreditation. The national accreditation listing at the end of 2025 records Jordan's accreditation unit under product certification only, which makes the origin of the body's accreditation worth confirming. The certification body decides; Sterling does not certify. Where this route note must describe the international arrangement, it is: an accreditation body within the international mutual recognition arrangements (Global ACI — Global Accreditation Cooperation Incorporated, formerly the IAF MLA). Audit language

Arabic and English are both used in audits and documents; agree the audit language, any interpreter and the language of controlled documents with the certification body at application, and say early if interviews will run in Arabic.

          Remote and on-site

Remote audit elements are at the certification body's discretion under its accreditation rules; plants, warehouses and operational sites are normally visited on-site.

AS9100 in Jordan: questions clients ask

Does a Jordanian rule require AS9100?

Aerospace customers, not Jordanian regulators, set this requirement: primes and large suppliers write AS9100-series certification into purchase terms. The contract is therefore the place to check the edition, the scope and any extra customer clauses. Ask each customer for its supplier quality manual before you plan the project, and keep the answers with your certification records.

How does a Jordanian machine shop get traceable calibration for aerospace work?

Measurement traceability matters in aerospace because customers ask suppliers to prove that gauges and test equipment are controlled. Local options include the national metrology department and laboratories accredited under ISO/IEC 17025. Whether a customer insists on accredited calibration varies, so read its supplier manual and compare any provider's scope with the ranges you use.

Who can certify a Jordanian supplier to AS9100?

Certification bodies authorised through the aerospace sector's scheme, never Sterling, the standards organisation or a Jordanian regulator. Because Jordan's accreditation unit appears on the national listing at the end of 2025 only for product certification, ask any candidate to show both its sector authorisation and a scope that names your processes before you request a quotation.

Is AS9100 much harder than ISO 9001 for a small Jordanian workshop?

It builds on ISO 9001 and adds aerospace requirements such as configuration management, product safety, prevention of counterfeit parts and risk-based operational control. A workshop with a working ISO 9001 system can close the gap in stages, starting with the customer's flow-down clauses. The certification body confirms the audit scope, so agree it before building procedures.
