Why does Bandung have more AS9100 interest than most Indonesian cities?
Because an aircraft manufacturer has been based in the city since 1976, according to its own site, and its supply chain reaches local machine shops and service firms. Most Indonesian cities have no such anchor. Whether a supplier needs the certificate depends on the aircraft maker's or the end customer's supplier terms.
Is AS9100 certification needed to supply a state-owned aircraft maker?
There is no general rule; it depends on the product, the programme and the contract. Ask for the buyer's supplier quality requirements in writing. Aerospace buyers frequently expect a 9100-series certificate, and the supplier must show it to be on an approved list, so check scope and edition early.
