AS9100 certification in Egypt at a glance
In Egypt, AS9100 is asked for by buyers and schemes rather than required by law. The drivers below show where the pressure comes from.
Aerospace work reaches Egyptian factories through supply chains, not through a national rule, and AS9100 is the common language those chains use. Customers ask for configuration control, first article inspection, special process control and counterfeit-part prevention on top of a sound ISO 9001 system. The Egyptian Accreditation Council's entry on Global ACI lists the IAQG 9100 series in its scope tree without a recognition date, so ask any certification body how it is authorised under the aerospace scheme as well as how it is accredited. The Egyptian Organization for Standards and Quality records management system certificates and their granting bodies, though its page does not say whether aerospace certificates must be registered. Sterling's Dubai office helps machine shops, electronics makers and maintenance providers close the gap to AS9100, with Effivity and Sterling Academy included with the engagement.
Who needs AS9100 in Egypt, and what happens without it
In Egypt the question rarely comes from a law. It comes from the buyer, the regulator or the partner that wants proof before it signs. These are the organisations that get asked.
- Machine shops and fabricators supplying aerospace manufacturersAerospace primes flow quality requirements down their supply chain, and AS9100 is the sector's common language for them.
- Electronics and cable-harness makers serving aerospace or defence customersCustomers ask for configuration control, counterfeit-part prevention and traceability beyond ISO 9001.
- Maintenance, repair and logistics providersAviation customers expect documented control of work, parts and records.
- Exporters qualifying as approved suppliersApproved-supplier lists at aerospace buyers usually ask for a certificate under the sector scheme.
- Companies already certified to ISO 9001 and looking to move upThe aerospace standard builds on the quality system already in place.

Strip away the vocabulary and AS9100 asks a supplier to prove six things about delivering aerospace products safely and on time.
In Egypt these six sit alongside the local laws and regulations listed under drivers below; one system can evidence both. The detail is on the global hub: AS9100 explained →

The Sterling Promise: 100% on-time completion, 100% success, 8,100+ client engagements.Sterling does not certify. Certification decisions stay with independent bodies.
How long does AS9100 certification take in Egypt?
There is no standard duration: it depends on your scope and on how much of the system already runs. In Egypt these are the factors that set the timeline.
- Scope of products, special processes and sites
- Configuration management and first article inspection records
- Control of suppliers and counterfeit parts
- Certification body scheduling around the Eid periods
Sterling agrees a dated plan with you on the discovery call, once the scope is known.
How much does AS9100 certification cost in Egypt?
The cost has two parts: the consulting work to build and prove the system, and the certification body’s audit fees, which are quoted separately. In Egypt these factors move both.
- Number of sites and processes in scope
- Gauging, inspection and traceability upgrades
- Certification body audit fees, quoted separately from consulting
- Building on an existing ISO 9001 system
Sterling gives one customised, all-inclusive proposal after the discovery call, never before the scope is agreed.
AS9100 consultants and certification bodies in Egypt
Two different organisations are involved. A consultant helps you build the system and prove it works; an accredited certification body then audits or assesses it and decides. Keeping the two separate is what makes the result credible to buyers and regulators.
- Check that the body’s accreditation or approval covers AS9100 and your sector, and that its certificates can be verified online.
- Ask the consultant how the local requirements in Egypt are mapped into the same system, so nothing runs twice.
- Ask for client references in your sector; Sterling’s client letters are available on request.
- Agree who owns the evidence and the tool after the engagement; with Sterling the system stays yours, in Effivity.
Laws and regulations that drive AS9100 in Egypt (2)
| Instrument | How it treats the standard |
|---|---|
| Egyptian Accreditation Council (EGAC) recognition entries | Accreditation Global ACI's entry for EGAC lists the IAQG 9100 series in its management-system scope tree without a recognition date, so ask the certification body to show how it is authorised for aerospace certification. |
| Egyptian Organization for Standards and Quality (EOS) — management system certificate registration | Process driver EOS states its registration unit records management system certificates and the granting bodies; the page does not say whether aerospace certificates are expected to be registered. |
Accreditation, audit language and remote audits in Egypt
Use a certification body accredited for AS9100 by the Egyptian Accreditation Council (EGAC) or by an accreditation body within the international mutual recognition arrangements (Global ACI — Global Accreditation Cooperation Incorporated, formerly the IAF MLA); check that the accreditation scope covers the standard and your sector. Global ACI's entry for EGAC lists the IAQG 9100 series in its scope tree without a recognition date, so ask any certification body how it is authorised under the aerospace certification scheme as well as how it is accredited; the scheme's rules matter as much as the accreditation. The accredited certification body decides, not Sterling. Edition and transition details: AS9100 hub →
Audit language
Arabic is the official language and English is common in business; agree the audit language, any interpreter and the language of controlled documents with the certification body at application, and say early if shop-floor interviews will run in Arabic.
Remote and on-site
Remote audit elements are at the certification body's discretion; production floors, special processes and stores are normally visited on-site.
AS9100 in Egypt: questions clients ask
Is AS9100 certification available through an Egyptian accredited body?
The accreditation listing shows the Egyptian Accreditation Council's scope tree including the IAQG 9100 series, but without a recognition date. Aerospace certification also depends on the scheme's own rules for certification bodies. Ask any body how it is authorised for AS9100 as well as accredited, and whether your customer accepts it.
Do I need ISO 9001 first?
Not formally, but AS9100 contains ISO 9001 requirements, so an existing certified system is a strong base. Many Egyptian suppliers add the aerospace requirements on top: configuration management, first article inspection, special process control and counterfeit-part prevention. Plan the gap review around those additions rather than rewriting what already works.
What do aerospace customers check beyond the certificate?
Their own supplier audits and approvals, covering special processes, inspection capability and traceability. A certificate gets you onto the list but does not guarantee orders. Calibrated gauging, documented first article inspection and disciplined records tend to decide outcomes. Ask each customer for its supplier requirements before you finalise scope.
Does EOS registration apply to AS9100 certificates?
The Egyptian standards body runs a unit that registers management system certificates and their granting bodies. Its page does not say whether aerospace certificates are expected to be registered, or who must register. Ask the Organization directly if your customer or contract mentions it, and keep the certificate and accreditation papers to hand.
