In short

AS9100 certification in Denmark at a glance

In Denmark, AS9100 is asked for by buyers and schemes rather than required by law. The drivers below show where the pressure comes from.

Aerospace quality requirements reach Danish suppliers through contracts, not through statute. Machining shops, fabricators, electronics firms and testing services that sell to aerospace primes are asked for AS9100, while defence work can call for AQAP certification, a scheme DANAK lists among the certifications it accredits. DANAK, the national accreditation body, publishes the rules on how accreditation scopes are drawn for management system certification, which is why a certification body's scope deserves a close look before you apply. The certificate comes from an accredited, scheme-authorised certification body, never from Sterling. Sterling's Enschede office builds the system on top of ISO 9001, adds configuration management, counterfeit-part prevention and special-process controls, and prepares you for audit, with Effivity and Sterling Academy included in the engagement.

The need

Who needs AS9100 in Denmark, and what happens without it

In Denmark the question rarely comes from a law. It comes from the buyer, the regulator or the partner that wants proof before it signs. These are the organisations that get asked.

  • Machining, fabrication and electronics firms supplying aerospace primesAerospace customers flow quality-system requirements down their supply chains.
  • Defence-sector suppliersDANAK lists accreditation for AQAP certification, which defence contracts may call for as well as an aerospace quality certificate.
  • Danish manufacturers diversifying into aerospaceA certified system is often the entry ticket to a supplier approval process.
  • Special-process and surface-treatment providersAerospace primes expect these suppliers to hold or support the sector standard.

AS9100 requirements in Denmark

Strip away the vocabulary and AS9100 asks a supplier to prove six things about delivering aerospace products safely and on time.

Product safety is managedRisks to product safety are identified and controlled throughout the product's life, from design to delivery.
Configuration is under controlThe approved configuration of each product is identified, changes are controlled and records match what was delivered.
Counterfeit parts are kept outPurchasing, inspection and supplier controls stop counterfeit or suspect parts from entering the product.
Operational risks are managedRisks to delivery and product conformity are assessed and controlled during planning and production.
Production is proven before it runsProduction process verification, such as first article inspection, confirms that processes can make conforming product.
Delivery and conformity are measuredOn-time delivery and product conformity are measured, and human factors are considered when nonconformities are investigated.

In Denmark these six sit alongside the local laws and regulations listed under drivers below; one system can evidence both. The detail is on the global hub: AS9100 explained →

How Sterling gets a Danish company certified

How to get AS9100 certified in Denmark

One team from the Enschede office carries the work from scoping to certificate. Clients in Denmark are served from Sterling's Enschede office, on-site where the work needs it and remotely otherwise.

    1. Discovery call and scopeEntities, locations, regulators and target date, agreed before any proposal.
    2. Gap assessment against AS9100 and the Danish requirements that apply to youControls you already run for your regulators and customers are reused, not rebuilt.
    3. Your system built with your team in EffivityRisks, controls, evidence, incidents and reviews in one live system the auditor can see.
    4. Internal audit, management review and corrective actionsYour internal auditors trained by Sterling; the evidence proven before the certification body arrives.
    5. Certification body stage 1 and stage 2, then surveillanceAn accredited body audits and decides. Sterling supports the audits and the three-year cycle.

      Time

How long does AS9100 certification take in Denmark?

There is no standard duration: it depends on your scope and on how much of the system already runs. In Denmark these are the factors that set the timeline.

      • Customer flow-down requirements and approvals
      • Maturity of configuration management and counterfeit-part controls
      • Number of sites and special processes
      • Certification body scheduling

Sterling agrees a dated plan with you on the discovery call, once the scope is known.

      Cost

How much does AS9100 certification cost in Denmark?

The cost has two parts: the consulting work to build and prove the system, and the certification body’s audit fees, which are quoted separately. In Denmark these factors move both.

      • Number of sites and product families
      • Special-process controls and traceability gaps
      • Certification body audit fees, quoted separately
      • Customer-specific approvals

Sterling gives one customised, all-inclusive proposal after the discovery call, never before the scope is agreed.

        Choosing a partner

AS9100 consultants and certification bodies in Denmark

Two different organisations are involved. A consultant helps you build the system and prove it works; an accredited certification body then audits or assesses it and decides. Keeping the two separate is what makes the result credible to buyers and regulators.

        • Check that the body’s accreditation or approval covers AS9100 and your sector, and that its certificates can be verified online.
        • Ask the consultant how the local requirements in Denmark are mapped into the same system, so nothing runs twice.
        • Ask for client references in your sector; Sterling’s client letters are available on request.
        • Agree who owns the evidence and the tool after the engagement; with Sterling the system stays yours, in Effivity.

Accreditation, audit language and remote audits in Denmark

Use a certification body that is authorised for aerospace scheme certification under the scheme's own rules and accredited by DANAK or by another accreditation body within the international mutual recognition arrangements (Global ACI — Global Accreditation Cooperation Incorporated, formerly the IAF MLA). Confirm the scheme authorisation and the accreditation scope with the body and your customers before applying. Edition and transition details: AS9100 hub →

          Audit language

Danish is the official language and English is widely used in business. Agree the audit language and the language of controlled documents with the certification body at application, and follow any language requirement in a contract or a regulator's procedure.

          Remote and on-site

Audits are on-site because production, inspection and configuration-control areas must be seen; document review can be partly remote.

AS9100 in Denmark: questions clients ask

          Does Danish law require AS9100?

No Danish instrument cited here requires it. AS9100 demand comes from aerospace and defence customers who flow quality requirements down to suppliers. What the Danish system supplies is the accreditation infrastructure: DANAK accredits management system certification and lists AQAP certification as a scheme it accredits. Ask each customer which certificate and scheme authorisation it expects.

How does AQAP certification differ from AS9100?

They answer different customers. Different customers ask for them. AQAP is tied to defence contracting, and DANAK lists AQAP certification as an accredited scheme under its rule AMC 47. AS9100 is the aerospace sector's quality standard. A supplier could be asked for either, or both, so read the contract's quality clause before choosing.

Which accreditation should an AS9100 certification body hold?

Look for accreditation from DANAK or an equivalent body, plus authorisation under the aerospace scheme's own rules. EA records DANAK as an MLA signatory with a management system certification scope, but scheme authorisation is a separate check with the scheme and your customers. Sterling prepares the system and cannot certify.

Is an AS9100 audit carried out in English in Denmark?

Often, since aerospace customers work internationally, but the language is agreed rather than assumed. Danish is official and English is widely used in business, so state your preferred audit and document language at application. That lets the certification body field auditors who hold the right sector credentials and can read your records.
