In short

ISO 17025 accreditation in Hanoi at a glance

A result is only as useful as the trust placed in it. In Hanoi, that trust is tested in places like the planned Biotech Hi-Tech Park, where research and product testing will need results partners can rely on, and in the electronics plants of Thang Long, where measurement drift can scrap a batch. ISO/IEC 17025 sets the competence requirements for testing and calibration laboratories: impartiality and confidentiality, personnel competence, method validation, equipment and metrological traceability, measurement uncertainty and valid results. Accreditation is granted by an accreditation body after assessment. Sterling serves Hanoi from its Ho Chi Minh City office, prepares your laboratory and does not accredit anyone.

Requirements

What ISO 17025 requires

Strip away the vocabulary and ISO/IEC 17025 requires a laboratory to prove six things about its competence and the results it reports.

You are impartialCommercial, financial or other pressures do not influence results, and risks to impartiality are identified and managed.
Staff are competent and authorisedEach person who performs, reviews or reports work is qualified, trained, monitored and authorised for those tasks.
Equipment is calibrated and traceableEquipment is fit for purpose and calibrated, with measurement results traceable to recognised references.
Methods are validated or verifiedMethods suit the work, are validated where needed or verified before use, and measurement uncertainty is evaluated.
Results are checked and reported properlyQuality control and proficiency testing confirm validity, and reports state results clearly, accurately and without ambiguity.
The management system worksComplaints, nonconforming work, risks, internal audits and management review run under a documented management system.

ISO 17025 in Hanoi: questions clients ask

Which Hanoi laboratories consider ISO 17025?

Testing laboratories for research and biotech work, in-house labs at electronics and component plants, and labs supporting food or consumer products. They seek accreditation so that customers and partners accept their results without retesting. Accreditation itself is granted by an accreditation body after assessment, not by Sterling.

Does an in-house plant laboratory in Hanoi need to be accredited?

Only if a customer, regulator or contract requires it. Many plant labs run well on ISO 9001 controls. Accreditation to ISO/IEC 17025 pays when results are issued to third parties or relied on for release decisions, and a gap review shows how far the lab is from the technical requirements.
