In short

AS9100 certification in the UAE at a glance

In the UAE, AS9100 is asked for by buyers and schemes rather than required by law. The drivers below show where the pressure comes from.

Aerospace buyers check suppliers in OASIS, the IAQG's Online Aerospace Supplier Information System, which lists organisations certified to the 9100-series requirements under IAQG rules together with their certification and accreditation bodies. For a machining shop in KEZAD, a maintenance supplier, or a Jafza distributor serving the aerospace supply chain, that listing is what a prime contractor's supplier-quality team looks for. AS9100 builds on ISO 9001 with aerospace requirements such as configuration management, product safety, counterfeit-part prevention and first article inspection. Certification is issued only by certification bodies operating under the IAQG scheme, and the result is recorded in OASIS. There is no UAE-specific AS9100 regulation; the requirement arrives through the customer. Sterling prepares UAE organisations from its Dubai office, building on any existing ISO 9001 system, with Effivity and Sterling Academy included in the engagement. The route and common questions follow.

The need

Who needs AS9100 in the UAE, and what happens without it

In the UAE the question rarely comes from a law. It comes from the buyer, the regulator or the partner that wants proof before it signs. These are the organisations that get asked.

  • Aerospace component manufacturers in KEZAD and other industrial zonesPrime contractors select suppliers through OASIS listings.
  • Maintenance, repair and overhaul suppliers and distributorsAerospace customers require 9100-series certification of their supply chain.
  • Logistics and trading firms in Jafza handling aerospace partsAerospace buyers expect traceability and counterfeit-part controls.

AS9100 requirements in the UAE

Strip away the vocabulary and AS9100 asks a supplier to prove six things about delivering aerospace products safely and on time.

Product safety is managedRisks to product safety are identified and controlled throughout the product's life, from design to delivery.
Configuration is under controlThe approved configuration of each product is identified, changes are controlled and records match what was delivered.
Counterfeit parts are kept outPurchasing, inspection and supplier controls stop counterfeit or suspect parts from entering the product.
Operational risks are managedRisks to delivery and product conformity are assessed and controlled during planning and production.
Production is proven before it runsProduction process verification, such as first article inspection, confirms that processes can make conforming product.
Delivery and conformity are measuredOn-time delivery and product conformity are measured, and human factors are considered when nonconformities are investigated.

In the UAE these six sit alongside the local laws and regulations listed under drivers below; one system can evidence both. The detail is on the global hub: AS9100 explained →

How Sterling gets a UAE company certified

How to get AS9100 certified in the UAE

One team from the Dubai office carries the work from scoping to certificate. All seven emirates and the free zones, on-site from Dubai; remote delivery for distributed teams.

    1. Discovery call and scopeEntities, locations, regulators and target date, agreed before any proposal.
    2. Gap assessment against AS9100 and the UAE requirements that apply to youControls you already run for your regulators and customers are reused, not rebuilt.
    3. Your system built with your team in EffivityRisks, controls, evidence, incidents and reviews in one live system the auditor can see.
    4. Internal audit, management review and corrective actionsYour internal auditors trained by Sterling; the evidence proven before the certification body arrives.
    5. Certification body stage 1 and stage 2, then surveillanceAn accredited body audits and decides. Sterling supports the audits and the three-year cycle.

      Time

How long does AS9100 certification take in the UAE?

There is no standard duration: it depends on your scope and on how much of the system already runs. In the UAE these are the factors that set the timeline.

      • Existing ISO 9001 system and its maturity
      • Number of product families and special processes
      • First article inspection and configuration records available

Sterling agrees a dated plan with you on the discovery call, once the scope is known.

      Cost

How much does AS9100 certification cost in the UAE?

The cost has two parts: the consulting work to build and prove the system, and the certification body’s audit fees, which are quoted separately. In the UAE these factors move both.

      • Number of sites and special processes in scope
      • Certification body audit fees quoted separately from consulting
      • Extent of customer-specific requirements

Sterling gives one customised, all-inclusive proposal after the discovery call, never before the scope is agreed.

        Choosing a partner

AS9100 consultants and certification bodies in the UAE

Two different organisations are involved. A consultant helps you build the system and prove it works; an accredited certification body then audits or assesses it and decides. Keeping the two separate is what makes the result credible to buyers and regulators.

        • Check that the body’s accreditation or approval covers AS9100 and your sector, and that its certificates can be verified online.
        • Ask the consultant how the local requirements in the UAE are mapped into the same system, so nothing runs twice.
        • Ask for client references in your sector; Sterling’s client letters are available on request.
        • Agree who owns the evidence and the tool after the engagement; with Sterling the system stays yours, in Effivity.

Lists suppliers certified/registered under IAQG rules to the 9100 series, with their certification and accreditation bodies.

Accreditation, audit language and remote audits in the UAE

AS9100 certificates are issued by certification bodies operating under IAQG rules with the relevant accreditation; results appear in OASIS. No body is named here unless verified. Edition and transition details: AS9100 hub →

          Audit language

English audits are the norm; agree the audit and document language with the certification body at application.

          Remote and on-site

Remote audit elements are at the certification body's discretion under its accreditation rules; operational sites are normally visited on-site.

AS9100 in the UAE: questions clients ask

Is AS9100 required by UAE regulation?

No UAE regulation requiring AS9100 has been identified. The driver is the aerospace customer, who sets the supply-chain requirement through its own purchasing terms. If a customer asks for certification, work from that request rather than from any UAE law, and confirm its exact wording with the customer directly.

How do customers check our AS9100 certificate?

Through OASIS, the IAQG's Online Aerospace Supplier Information System. It lists suppliers certified or registered to the 9100 series under IAQG rules, showing each supplier's certification body and accreditation body. A buyer can therefore verify your status against that listing instead of relying only on a certificate copy that you send.

Can we build AS9100 on an existing ISO 9001 system?

Yes. AS9100 includes the ISO 9001 requirements and adds aerospace-specific ones, so an existing ISO 9001 system is a sensible base to extend. What you add are the aerospace additions on top of what you already operate, rather than starting a second system from nothing.
