HACCP certification in Riyadh at a glance

Who in Riyadh asks to see a HACCP plan? Mostly food establishments facing municipal inspection and the customers that supply or purchase from them. Riyadh Municipality handles commercial licensing and health inspection, and its Balady service issues worker health certificates for food and public-health establishments. HACCP, the hazard analysis and critical control points method, gives a kitchen, factory or warehouse a documented way to show control of hazards between licence visits. Distribution operators around the Riyadh Dry Port use it for chilled and ambient handling. Sterling builds the plan, monitoring sheets and training from its Riyadh office, and where a certificate is wanted an accredited body assesses it.

What HACCP requires

Strip away the vocabulary and HACCP asks a food business to prove six things about how it controls food safety hazards.

A team knows the product and processA competent team has described each product, its intended use and a verified flow diagram of how it is made.
Hazards are analysedEvery significant hazard at each step is identified, and the measures that will control it are decided.
Critical control points have limitsThe steps where control is essential are identified, each with critical limits that separate safe from unsafe.
Monitoring and correction are routineEach critical point is monitored, and corrective action is defined in advance and taken whenever a limit is breached.
The plan is verifiedChecks confirm the plan works, from validating limits to reviewing records and reassessing when anything changes.
Records prove itDocuments and records show the plan was followed, ready for customers, auditors and food inspectors.

HACCP in Riyadh: questions clients ask

Does Riyadh Municipality require a HACCP plan?

The municipal pages recorded for Riyadh do not name HACCP. They describe commercial licensing, health inspection and health certificates for workers in food and public-health establishments. A HACCP plan is still the usual way to show control of food hazards during inspection. Ask the municipality which documents your licence category expects.

What does a Riyadh food business need to have in place first?

Start with the basics a Riyadh establishment must already hold, including worker health certificates requested through Balady after a Ministry of Health medical examination. A HACCP plan then adds hazard analysis, critical limits and monitoring records on top. Those records are what an inspector or customer auditor will want to see.
