ISO 14001 certification in Shenzhen at a glance
Shenzhen's port runs partly on shore power. The municipal government reported that Yantian port area supplied vessels with 23.3 million kilowatt-hours of shore power in the first eight months of 2026 and set a record for liquefied natural gas bunkering in August. Factories in Bao'an and Pingshan face the same pressure from customers to show environmental control, and the municipal Industry and Information Technology Bureau publishes annual green factory lists and recommendations. ISO 14001 gives each site one method: identify environmental aspects and impacts, track compliance obligations, set objectives, control operations and prepare for emergencies. Sterling builds the system from its Shanghai office and prepares sites for an accredited certification body, with Effivity and Sterling Academy included.

ISO 14001 in Shenzhen: questions clients ask
Does Yantian's shore-power record mean port suppliers need ISO 14001?
It shows that environmental performance is visible in the port, which raises expectations on contractors and service firms. The record itself is not a certificate rule. Shipping lines and cargo owners decide what they require of suppliers. A certified system is a convenient answer to their questionnaires and audits.
How does the green factory list relate to ISO 14001 for a Shenzhen plant?
They are separate. The bureau runs its own recognition and recommendation process for green factories, with its own criteria. ISO 14001 is a management system standard that supports the environmental discipline such schemes look for, but holding the certificate does not by itself qualify a plant. Check the bureau's current notice for criteria.
