In short

AS9100 certification in the Philippines at a glance

In the Philippines, AS9100 is asked for by buyers and schemes rather than required by law. The drivers below show where the pressure comes from.

Aerospace buyers look up suppliers in OASIS, the IAQG's database of organisations certified to the 9100 series, so an AS9100 certificate matters only if it appears there. For Philippine machine shops, electronics assemblers and component makers that want to sell into aerospace supply chains, that listing is the practical driver; the records checked for this page show no Philippine regulation requiring AS9100 of private manufacturers. Export manufacturers in economic zones, including the Clark Freeport Zone and the light-manufacturing estates of New Clark City, are the usual candidates. Certification is issued by a certification body accredited for the 9100 series under IAQG rules, and the Philippine Accreditation Bureau's published IAF MLA scopes do not list it, so the body's accreditation should be checked directly. Sterling prepares the quality management system from its Manila office, adding configuration management, first article inspection, product safety and counterfeit-part prevention to the ISO 9001 core, with Effivity and Sterling Academy included.

The need

Who needs AS9100 in the Philippines, and what happens without it

In the Philippines the question rarely comes from a law. It comes from the buyer, the regulator or the partner that wants proof before it signs. These are the organisations that get asked.

  • Precision machining and component manufacturers supplying aerospace customersAerospace buyers check supplier certification in OASIS.
  • Export manufacturers in Clark and New Clark CityCustomers in regulated supply chains ask for sector-specific quality systems.

Requirements

AS9100 requirements in the Philippines

Strip away the vocabulary and AS9100 asks a supplier to prove six things about delivering aerospace products safely and on time.

Product safety is managedRisks to product safety are identified and controlled throughout the product's life, from design to delivery.
Configuration is under controlThe approved configuration of each product is identified, changes are controlled and records match what was delivered.
Counterfeit parts are kept outPurchasing, inspection and supplier controls stop counterfeit or suspect parts from entering the product.
Operational risks are managedRisks to delivery and product conformity are assessed and controlled during planning and production.
Production is proven before it runsProduction process verification, such as first article inspection, confirms that processes can make conforming product.
Delivery and conformity are measuredOn-time delivery and product conformity are measured, and human factors are considered when nonconformities are investigated.

In the Philippines these six sit alongside the local laws and regulations listed under drivers below; one system can evidence both. The detail is on the global hub: AS9100 explained →

How Sterling gets a Philippine company certified

How to get AS9100 certified in the Philippines

One team from the Manila office carries the work from scoping to certificate. Metro Manila and other Philippine sites, on-site from the Makati office; remote delivery for distributed teams.

    1. Discovery call and scopeEntities, locations, regulators and target date, agreed before any proposal.
    2. Gap assessment against AS9100 and the Philippine requirements that apply to youControls you already run for your regulators and customers are reused, not rebuilt.
    3. Your system built with your team in EffivityRisks, controls, evidence, incidents and reviews in one live system the auditor can see.
    4. Internal audit, management review and corrective actionsYour internal auditors trained by Sterling; the evidence proven before the certification body arrives.
    5. Certification body stage 1 and stage 2, then surveillanceAn accredited body audits and decides. Sterling supports the audits and the three-year cycle.

      Time

How long does AS9100 certification take in the Philippines?

There is no standard duration: it depends on your scope and on how much of the system already runs. In the Philippines these are the factors that set the timeline.

      • Product and process complexity, including special processes
      • Customer-specific requirements
      • First article inspection and configuration management records
      • Certification body scheduling around Holy Week, the year-end holidays and weather-related work suspensions

Sterling agrees a dated plan with you on the discovery call, once the scope is known.

      Cost

How much does AS9100 certification cost in the Philippines?

The cost has two parts: the consulting work to build and prove the system, and the certification body’s audit fees, which are quoted separately. In the Philippines these factors move both.

      • Number of sites and product families
      • Certification body audit fees quoted separately from consulting
      • Special-process controls and supplier oversight

Sterling gives one customised, all-inclusive proposal after the discovery call, never before the scope is agreed.

        Choosing a partner

AS9100 consultants and certification bodies in the Philippines

Two different organisations are involved. A consultant helps you build the system and prove it works; an accredited certification body then audits or assesses it and decides. Keeping the two separate is what makes the result credible to buyers and regulators.

        • Check that the body’s accreditation or approval covers AS9100 and your sector, and that its certificates can be verified online.
        • Ask the consultant how the local requirements in the Philippines are mapped into the same system, so nothing runs twice.
        • Ask for client references in your sector; Sterling’s client letters are available on request.
        • Agree who owns the evidence and the tool after the engagement; with Sterling the system stays yours, in Effivity.

Laws and regulations that drive AS9100 in the Philippines (1)

          InstrumentHow it treats the standard
Philippine Accreditation Bureau (PAB) — national accreditation body accrediting management system certification bodies (ISO/IEC 17021)Market driver
Accredited certification is available through the national accreditation body or bodies within the international arrangements; PAB's published IAF MLA scopes do not list this standard.

Accreditation, audit language and remote audits in the Philippines

Use a certification body accredited for the 9100 series under IAQG rules by an accreditation body within the international mutual recognition arrangements (Global ACI — Global Accreditation Cooperation Incorporated, formerly the IAF MLA); the certificate is then listed in OASIS. PAB's published IAF MLA scopes do not list AS9100. No body is named here unless its scope has been verified. Edition and transition details: AS9100 hub →

          Audit language

Audits in the Philippines are normally conducted in English; agree the audit and document language with the certification body at application and plan interpretation for interviews in Filipino or a regional language.

          Remote and on-site

Remote audit elements are at the certification body's discretion under its accreditation rules; operational sites are normally visited on-site.

AS9100 in the Philippines: questions clients ask

Is AS9100 required in the Philippines?

No Philippine regulation requiring it was found. The driver is the aerospace customer, whose supply-chain rules ask for 9100-series certification. If you supply, or want to supply, an aerospace programme, check the customer's requirements first; if you do not, the standard is a commercial choice rather than a legal duty.

How do customers check an AS9100 certificate?

Customers look the supplier up in OASIS, the IAQG's Online Aerospace Supplier Information System, which lists suppliers certified under IAQG rules to the 9100 series.

Can AS9100 build on ISO 9001?

It can. Everything ISO 9001 requires is already inside AS9100, which then layers on requirements specific to aviation, space and defence, so a working ISO 9001 system becomes the foundation rather than something to replace. The effort goes into those aerospace additions, and how far you take them depends on what your aerospace customers ask of their suppliers.
