SOC 1 attestation in Coimbatore at a glance

SOC 1 is a niche request in Coimbatore, but when it arrives it is not optional. A shared-services team that processes a foreign client's payables, or a software firm hosting payroll or accounting for customers, becomes part of that client's financial reporting chain, and the client's auditor asks for assurance on the provider's controls. The answer is a report issued by an independent CPA firm describing the service, management's assertion and the controls, with an opinion on design and, in a Type 2 report, operation over a period. Sterling does not issue it. It helps the provider scope the service, write control descriptions, close gaps and rehearse walkthroughs before the CPA firm begins.

SOC 1 in Coimbatore: questions clients ask

Does a Coimbatore firm need a SOC 1 report?

Only if its service touches a customer's financial reporting and the customer's auditor asks for assurance, for instance payroll, payables or accounting processing. Few Coimbatore manufacturers are affected. A SOC 1 report is an attestation by a licensed CPA firm, not a certificate.

How is SOC 1 different from ISO 9001 or ISO/IEC 27001?

SOC 1 is a CPA firm's attestation about controls relevant to a customer's financial reporting, and the report is addressed to the customer and its auditor. ISO certificates are issued by accredited certification bodies against management-system standards. They answer different questions, so one does not replace the other.
