SOC 1 attestation in Chennai at a glance

A Chennai capability centre that keys supplier invoices for a European manufacturer, or a SaaS firm that hosts a payroll engine, is part of its client's financial reporting whether it likes it or not. The client's auditor therefore asks for assurance on the provider's controls, and the usual form is a SOC 1 report: an attestation by an independent CPA firm describing the service, management's assertion and the controls, with an opinion on their design and, in Type 2, their operation over a period. Sterling does not issue the report. It helps the provider choose the scope, write control descriptions, remediate gaps, collect evidence and rehearse walkthroughs before the CPA firm's examination.

SOC 1 in Chennai: questions clients ask

When does a Chennai provider need a SOC 1 report?

When its service affects a customer's financial reporting, such as payroll, payables, billing or hosted accounting software, and the customer's auditor wants assurance on those controls. A SOC 1 report is an attestation by a licensed CPA firm. The customer's auditor says whether it is needed.

What does a SOC 1 Type 2 report cost Chennai providers in effort?

Mainly evidence collection: control owners must keep records proving each control ran as described throughout the examination period. Preparation covers scoping, control descriptions and evidence routines. The CPA firm sets its examination approach, and Sterling helps the provider stay ready throughout.
