In short

SOC 1 attestation in Bengaluru at a glance

Bengaluru's finance and accounting service centres process payroll, payables and reporting for clients whose own auditors must rely on the results. Those auditors ask for a SOC 1 report, an attestation by an independent CPA firm on controls relevant to the client's financial reporting. Software companies that host financial workflows face the same request. The report describes the service, management's assertion and the controls, then gives the auditor's opinion; a Type 2 report also tests operation over a period. Sterling does not issue it. What Sterling does is help the provider define scope, write control descriptions, close design gaps, collect evidence in Effivity and rehearse the walkthroughs, so the examination by the CPA firm is orderly.

SOC 1 in Bengaluru: questions clients ask

When does a Bengaluru company need a SOC 1 report?

When customers' auditors need assurance that outsourced processes affecting their financial statements, such as payroll, accounts payable or fund accounting, are controlled. A SOC 1 report is an attestation issued by a licensed CPA firm, not a certificate; the customer's auditor says whether it is needed.

What is the difference between SOC 1 Type 1 and Type 2 for a Bengaluru provider?

Type 1 covers the design of controls on one date, whereas Type 2 also examines how they operated across a period, which is why customers' auditors usually favour it. The CPA firm sets the examination approach, while Sterling prepares controls and evidence beforehand.
