In short

NIS2 compliance in Munich at a glance

NIS2 turns cybersecurity into a management duty for many more organisations, and Munich is full of candidates. Technology and managed-service providers are named in the directive's digital sectors, Munich Airport sits in the transport sector, and the vehicle makers and their suppliers sit in manufacturing or in the supply chains of regulated customers. In Germany the duties are set by the amended BSI Act, including risk-management measures and registration with the BSI, as the Germany page explains. A Munich entity first needs to learn whether it counts as particularly important or important, then close gaps in governance, incident handling, supply-chain security and continuity. Sterling carries out the gap analysis and helps build the programme from its Frankfurt office, using ISO 27001 where it fits.

NIS2 in Munich: questions clients ask

How does a Munich company find out whether NIS2 applies?

Check its sector, size and activities against the German implementation of NIS2 in the amended BSI Act, which also covers registration with the BSI. Group structure and supply-chain roles can matter. Take advice from counsel or the BSI before assuming either way.

Can ISO 27001 help a Munich organisation with NIS2?

Yes, a good deal. An ISO 27001 system covers risk management, incident handling and supply-chain controls that NIS2 expects, and the BSI notes it does not automatically satisfy every requirement. Treat it as a strong base and then map the remaining gaps.
