SOC 1 attestation in Davao City at a glance

Client auditors do not visit Davao City, so they ask for a report instead. SOC 1 is that report for any service provider whose work affects a client's financial statements: payroll runs, invoicing, collections, claims or reconciliations handled by a team at Abreeza BPO or a similar office. A licensed CPA firm examines the provider's control objectives and the controls that meet them, describing their design at a date in a Type 1 report or testing their operation over a period in Type 2. It is an attestation, not a certificate. Sterling prepares control objectives, narratives and evidence from its Manila office using Effivity, and the CPA firm performs the examination.

SOC 1 in Davao City: questions clients ask

What is a SOC 1 report for a Davao outsourcing team?

It is an independent CPA firm's report on controls at a service provider that affect a client's financial reporting, such as payroll or billing. Type 1 describes the design at a date, Type 2 tests operation over a period. It is an attestation, not a certificate, and Sterling does not issue it.

Does Davao need SOC 1 more than SOC 2?

It depends on the service. If a team's work feeds a client's financial statements, the client's auditors will ask for SOC 1. If the worry is security or privacy, SOC 2 fits better. Many Davao providers eventually hold both, so ask which the client's auditors need first.
