SOC 2 attestation in Gurugram at a glance

For a Gurugram software or managed-services company selling abroad, SOC 2 often arrives as a line in a procurement checklist. Haryana's 2025 industrial policy names Gurugram as a hub for IT and start-ups, and the district administration lists software firms and multinational offices among its business, so many providers sell into enterprises that request an independent report. A SOC 2 examination, conducted by an independent CPA firm, tests controls against the trust services criteria for security and, where selected, availability, confidentiality, processing integrity and privacy, over a period for a Type 2 report. It is an attestation, not an ISO certificate. Sterling helps Gurugram teams define scope, write control narratives and gather evidence; the CPA firm forms the opinion.

What SOC 2 requires

Security is designed inControls protect the system against unauthorised access and use; security is the one category every SOC 2 report includes.
Access is granted on need and reviewedLogical and physical access is approved on need, removed when no longer required and reviewed regularly.
Changes and operations are controlledSystem changes are authorised and tested, and operations are monitored so incidents are detected and handled.
Risks and vendors are assessedRisks to your commitments, including those coming from vendors and business partners, are assessed and acted on.
Controls work over timeFor a Type 2 report, a licensed CPA firm tests that the controls operated effectively across the review period.

SOC 2 in Gurugram: questions clients ask

When does a Gurugram software firm need SOC 2?

Typically when enterprise customers, often in the United States, ask for an independent report on security and related controls before signing. Sterling prepares the company; an independent CPA firm examines it and issues the report. A Type 2 report, covering a period, is the usual target.

Is SOC 2 better than ISO 27001 for a Gurugram start-up?

Neither is better in general. SOC 2 is an attestation report popular with United States customers, while ISO 27001 is a certification more often requested elsewhere. Many firms end up with both. Ask your best prospects which they prefer and choose the one that unblocks sales first.
