ISO 14001 certification in Ahmedabad at a glance
Gujarat's estates are planned with environmental infrastructure, and Sanand shows how. GIDC describes it as a zero-discharge estate where companies must take liquid waste to their own effluent treatment plants and haul solid waste to GIDC's Naroda and Vatva disposal sites. Plants making vehicles, parts, plastics, pharma and food there live with that regime daily. ISO 14001 turns it into a management system: legal register, aspects and impacts, objectives, operational control, emergency preparedness and internal audit, with an accredited certification body issuing the certificate. Customers, including the multinationals GIDC names, often ask suppliers for it. Sterling's Mumbai office builds the system with your team, and Effivity and Sterling Academy come with the engagement.

ISO 14001 in Ahmedabad: questions clients ask
How does Sanand's zero-discharge rule relate to ISO 14001?
GIDC's Sanand estate is described as zero discharge, so liquid waste leaves only through the company's own effluent treatment and solid waste goes to GIDC's disposal sites. ISO 14001 does not replace those duties. It gives a plant a system to keep track of them, assign responsibility, check performance and show customers the evidence.
Do Ahmedabad suppliers need ISO 14001 for multinational customers?
Often, yes, as part of the supplier approval of the plants GIDC names at Sanand, though practice differs by customer. The request is contractual rather than a legal condition. Ask the buyer's procurement team whether a certificate is mandatory or whether an audit of your own system is enough.
